Thought it would be cool to start a topic on geneaology. What nationalities are you? I am half Norwegian, and also have English, Scotch and German blood. I have a couple ancestors who were brothers that were part of the Texas Rangers who died at the battle of the Alamo......also have ancestors ( my grandfather's mother's 2 brothers) who discovered the biggest gold mine in Alaska.........like to hear from all of you!!!!
I'm a direct descendent of Captain Jean Jouette on my Mom's side. He did a midnight run similar to Paul Revere only Jouette literally saved most of the Continental Congress from arrest & execution by the British when they marched on Virginia in 1781. Jouette never got the recognition Revere did.
Grand father from Bohemia ~Grand mother from Russia, both came over on the boat when they were young, met, married had and raised kids in Manhattan before retiring to the Jersey Shore........I take after the Gypsy's.I was the only girl born on my dads side of the family My Grand mother used to tell me all the time in her Russian accent "We are strong like bull" i used to laugh, hey she was right ! Fathers side~Rumor has it we are related to Mayor Cermak from Chicago in the Al Capone mob times. That's my old name, always looking for facts to back it up though.......... Moms side ~Parents parents parents from Ireland.Grand father was a Jersey City cop and a mean one at that I have received all the lethal combinations............But i wouldn't have any other way ! Peace my friends
I have a couple of Uncles that have been working of the genealogy. I am a direct descendant of the Mayflower. Many of the first generations were related from there. One of my great uncles was killed in the Bunker Hill battle Revolutionary war. He said "Don't fire till you see the whites of there eyes". Years before that one of my ancestors was the butler to King Henry III, his two sons were exiled after 5 years in prison. They got to friendly with the queen, (lucky to have there heads).
Now famous I had a neighbor when I was little, I did not think much of him till after his death. Howard Egerton, he invented the strobe light, took the first picture of a bullet going through the apple. I used to work on his farm in the summers.
Can a good Muslim be a good American? I sent that question to a friend who worked in Saudi Arabia for 20 years.
The following is his reply:
Theologically - no. Because his allegiance is to Allah, the moon god of Arabia.
Religiously - no. Because no other religion is accepted by his Allah except Islam (Koran, 2:256)
Scripturally - no. Because his allegiance is to the five pillars of Islam and the Quran (Koran).
Geographically - no. Because his allegiance is to Mecca, to which he turns in prayer five times a day.
Socially - no. Because his allegiance to Islam forbids him to make friends with Christians or Jews.
Politically - no. Because he must submit to the mullah (spiritual leaders), who teach annihilation of Israel and Destruction of America, the great Satan.
Domestically - no. Because he is instructed to marry four women and beat and scourge his wife when she disobeys him (Quran 4:34).
Intellectually - no. Because he cannot accept the American Constitution since it is based on Biblical principles and he believes the Bible to be corrupt.
Philosophically - no. Because Islam, Muhammad, and the Quran do not allow freedom of religion and expression. Democracy and Islam cannot co-exist. Every Muslim government is either dictatorial or autocratic.
Spiritually - no. Because when we declare "one nation under God," the Christian's God is loving and kind, while Allah is NEVER referred to as heavenly father, nor is he ever called love in The Quran's 99 excellent names.
Therefore after much study and deliberation.... perhaps we should be very suspicious of ALL MUSLIMS in this country. They obviously cannot be both "good" Muslims and good Americans.
Call it what you wish.... it's still the truth.
If you find yourself intellectually in agreement with the above statements, perhaps you will share this with your friends. The more who understand this, the better it will be for our country and our future.
Pass it on Fellow Americans. The religious war is bigger than we know or understand.
sno1966 write: I am an all American Mutt! Just like the generations before me. However prior to that I think they all came from places like Germany, Itally, Ireland, England, some were native american (cherokee my great great grand mother was probablly our only pedigree as she was cherokee) Nordic decent .. although I doubt I inherited any of that. I'm the only person in my family under 6 ft tall. Yes that includes women... except for my sweet lil great great granny. She was short too. Oh and my fathers side were a lot of Italian and french decent. Either way the end result is me... woof!!!

About the only thing I can really lay claim too with any amount of confidence is Cherokee. My grand parents were both Cherokee, and spoke the language. As for the rest, well that's pretty much all "mutt."
As far as anyone famous in my family goes. Given the amount of adversity, and hardship my grandparents both lived through, including the depression, the dust bowl, and most of the time being just plain dirt poor. Even with all that they still managed to laugh, keep their sense of family, love and respect for one another in tact. Taking all that into account, they will always be famous in my mind.
