RiderChick was in an accident yesterday on her way to met me for our ride to Laughlin. She is currently in the hospital with a severe injury to her leg. A car pulled out in front of her (totally no fault of her own). Those that know her, know that her love of riding is one of the most important things in her life. Please say a prayer for her and remember to ride safe.
I'm delighted to report that RiderChick is Back in the Wind!!
I wasn't there with her, just her and her brother, but she tells me that she took her V-Star out today for a couple of rides. She thought that she would be stuck with only cruising the neighborhood in 1st gear, unable to shift with the prosthetic left leg. But, she found that she could shift without much of a problem. She tells me that she did about 40 miles, and she REALLY sounded happy and excited on the phone.
Sounds like she still needs to modify the shifter on her Harley ('03 LowRider) before getting out on it again, but it is otherwise in good shape.
SoCalDesertRider write: I did dinner with RiderChick tonight, and can report that she is definately on that road to recovery. She walked into the restaraunt, and still looks great above the knees. :-) Using the new foot hurts her a lot, obviously, but she is not one to tolerate being confined or restricted. (Heavy understatement!) She's been through quite a lot, recovering; including quite justifiable anger at the idiot who U-turned in front of her across the double yellow lines on the highway.. Her LowRider is due out of the shop anytime with a heel/toe shifter mod, and she is very (VERY!) hot to get back on it again. I look forward to riding with her again as soon as she's ready. Riderchick also has a brother in her town who rides, and I don't doubt that she'll have the full support of anyone/everyone who knows her as this true biker woman rides again!
Hi Ken ... I just now came across this post and it's good news to hear that RC is out and about - a very positive sign!

Hang in there G/F ... Here are some MORE POSITIVE VIBES and PRAYERS being sent your way! :^)

Thank you everyone for your prayers. I am home after 2 months in hospital, lost my left leg below the knee. I will ride again, it'll take a few months for a new leg but I will get up on my bikes again within this year. Road to recovery will be tough but we are tough people. Feel free to email, if you ever want to chat.
Thanks for the nice thoughts, I am letting riderchick know of your comments. She is still in ICU in the hospital. Her leg was almost severed. Praying hard that they are able to save it. Ride safe everyone.
