Well, I have my little .40 cal Glock compact that is easy to carry and a nice consistent shooter.

I just dont like the Glock's internal hammer without a de-cock. You are locked and loaded with only your little trigger safety. Hate to have an accident and go anywhere half-cocked. (pun intended).

But, considering a Walther .380. Something about James Bond movies and my childhood I reckon. But the .380 seems a decent caliber and a smaller piece.

Please do not misunderstand me. I do not claim to be a proponent of Carrying Concealed weapons. I think you should carry em in the open :P.

Anyway, any thoughts?

AJ

Glocks don't have a hammer, internal or otherwise. They have a striker (internal firing pin,) which moves back and forth. You can carry a Glock loaded and ready to fire, but you can't carry one "cocked" as there is no "cocking action" at all until the trigger is pulled, so there is nothing to "de-cock," see?

I'm not a big Glock fan, but one of the many weapons I was once certified as an armoror for was the Glock. The Glock has an action that really doesn't fit into any normal catagory, and I would say that for people that do not have gobs of time and money to spend on training, (like, oh...most all civilian gun owners?) and just HAVE to have an auto-loading pistol, that a Glock is one of the safest bets they can have.

(I actually took one a few years ago and loaded it with squib rounds. I threw it all over the range against hard surfaces, hit it with a ball-pein, kicked it, stomped on it, and tried to catch the trigger safety in all kinds of ways against holsters and web gear and all that, just to see what would happen. Nothing happened.)

But then again, what do I know? I very seldom carry a firearm anymore. If I knew I was going to be attacked and need a firearm my choice would be a shotgun. Benelli M1-Super 90 if I could take my pick. But in a pinch my choice would be any weapon that reliably fires when I squeeze the trigger.

But anyway, I would have to say that my favorite piece is an old rusty Steven's .22 with the stock crudely sawed off and the dried out remains of a potato stuck to the muzzle. I love that old gun, I do.

9 mm (.380) Walther PPK..pre 68- semi. Sweet weapon for a sweet lady lmao....

Way better and safer than the Glock in my humble opinion AJ.

But no gun is really safe if not properly respected and revered..... but you already know that lol......

Mine does have a little bite - the slide and the hammer have cut me a few times - but the new ones are now manufactured in the US, (ever since the 1968 Gun Control Act), by S & W and they've worked out the "bite" problem.

The best part about my weapon is that it's rumored that Hitler killed himself with a Walther PPK. One of the reasons that I carry it proudly.....

And of course the James Bond aspect too. Shaken - not stirred.... lol......

My dad has an old Mauser - the same one he used during WWII. Now THAT'S a weapon......

Be safe my friend.......

Oh! I didn't know this thread was about firearms. I thought it was about something entirely different. :D

I agree, weapons shold be displayed. Being an ex-cop, I like to know what the other guys are carrying. Plus, if more people were packing (and showed it) maybe some of these "Gangsta Thugs" might think twice before messing with the regular folks just minding their own business. I have my own personal arsenal I have collected over the years. Everything from a .22 Mag Snake Eyes Derringer, to a Beretta 9mm, to a Stainless .44 cal "Dirty Harry" revolver and many things in between. I usually carry something or have something close by. I don't go looking for trouble... too old for that. But, I will shoot back.
