I am an environmaentalist, so I would prefer a plant or tree that I can keep forever and not cause senseless death to flowers. However, here in hurricane-ville, we have all learned that nothing is forever when 200 year old oaks are uprooted. I do believe that most men should be more sentimental. I also admit that I want a bouquet of red roses on my wedding day, but it will last forever because I will have it preserved. I already have 11 roses, a magnolia, an orchid and a lotus tattooed on me, and 27 plants outside my fema trailer, so perhaps men feel I have enough flowers already.

Hey now, don't knock us younger men. Not that I'm all that young. It's true, many of the younger generations simply do not know or care to know what chivalry is all about.

That single word sums up romance, passion, desire, courtesy, and even lust all at once. It's amazing how many women have forgotten the heightened arousal, of all levels and types, that accompany simply being treated like a lady.

What's the world coming to when we are unable to remind them from time to time, or all the time in some cases, how important they are?

Will you marry me?lmfaooooooooooooooo

I used to give my wife flowers quite frequently and not just for birthdays and anniversaries. I've mixed things up giving her a dozen roses on our 12th anniversary with three of them being a different color than the rest to signify each of our 3 kids.

I've pulled over on the side of the road and picked wild flowers to bring home just because.

But when the response got to being, "Oh those are nice" and they were quickly set aside I stopped doing it as often. Now it's Mother's day, birthday and anniversary.

So I guess too much of a good thing is too much of a good thing.

Yep, we still send flowers. A few years ago I sent a dozen roses to my girlfriend at the time cuz she was really pizzed at me for something. She took the roses, vase and all, and dumped em in the trash. So, I called the florist and had another dozen delivered. They went into the trash even quicker than the first dozen. Eventually, we can learn new things, so I called the florist again, and had one rose delivered. When she got one rose delivered, she busted up laughing so hard that she couldn't stay mad any longer. I learned two things that day, and the second was, sometimes when you start acting cheap, it gets mistaken for thoughtfull and resourceful, and it raises you to unheard of levels of esteem by your partner

I love flowers. My ex hubby lured me into marriage simply because he was the ONLY man that remembered what my favorites were. Ok.. not the only reason I married him, but it did impress me enough that he had my full attention after that. I hated roses. loved lillys. One simple little detail pretty much sealed the deal. He cared enough to remember something I had said in passing. And only mentioned once. So he sent a bouquet for my birthday a year later mind you to my place of work. I knew then that I mattered to him. Oddly 13 years later I didn't anymore, but then yes. Flowers can say a lot.

Well I guess you could say that things (and people) are a little more wild and "wooly" out here in the Northwest. LOL

I enjoy receiving flowers and get them frequently. In fact after being away from home for the last 2 weeks my roommate bought me a bouquet and put them in my room with a note saying "welcome home...this is just a house without you". So they can be given and appreciated for more than just romantic reasons.

Valentines day I went out and picked up a rose for each of the ladies I work with (small office so it didn't take many). Most of them are single, with one that her husband was in Afghanistan at the time. It was nice that since most of them didn't have a guy (except for me) to buy them flowers on V-Day, it made them all feel pretty good. I enjoyed seeing the reactions from them myself. It's always nice to see a lady smile knowing she's feeling special.

Heck yes we still give flowers, how do you think all those flower shops you see everywhere stay open.. It's not all Valentines days and Funerals that pay the bills for them ! LOL!

My ex got a fresh delivery of flowers every week for the first seven years we were together. Then she got mad at me one day and threw out " And you waste all that money on flowers! We could use that on something else instead!" (Note: at the time we owed not a penny in the world and owned all the cars and the house outright, really weren't hurting for cash. lol).
So she didn't see another flower for the next four years until one night she told me she missed the flowers.. asked me why I'd stopped sending them.. when I reminded her what she'd said ..she went white as a sheet. Said something about shooting herself in the foot with that one....{grin}
Next morning she had a dozen roses and continued to receive flowers every week right up to the day of our split after 15 years together.... long story.. had nothing to do with the flowers . lol.
For the mileage you get out of them .. best investment money can buy!
So yes some of us .. hell a lot of us do send flowers.

OMG.......... I'm swoonin. Mil - you have restored my faith in romantic men.....

Yes Ms.K I love gettin flowers - espsecially if they're for no reason..... just to say that he's thinkin of me.....

So gf... here's one for ya. Love & miss ya .... from my heart, and for no reason at all lol.

Go right ahead and swoon Suzananana, I'll catch ya and make sure ya don't get hurt by it at all.

Seriously though.. I've been told since my divorce that it's a very fine line between romantic and player.
Apparently old time romantic gestures like flowers, can trigger the anti-player alarm circuits in some women these day.
Go figure.

Nah Mil - We women are smart enough to distinguish between the real romantics and the players these days. Especially lately lmao.... Only problem is that sometimes it takes a little longer to realize it because they play the game so well.......

Right ladies??
