Thirty five years ago today, I met my lovely wife, and everybody's most talked about spouse, Barb.

I wasn't on BK back then. I was riding a 1970 Honda CB360, which I sold a few months later to have money so we could start raising kids.

I met her at a restaurant called Harvey's Countryside Inn in Countryside, Illinois.

We were introduced by some friends of ours. Dave was my close friend, and Nancy,Dave's girlfriend, was Barb's friend.

We went to the restaurant and Barb was there with her older brother. She joined us and we hung out driving around. I had the car. I dropped off Barb at her house and proceeded to take Dave and Nancy home.

On my way to dropping off my friends, I remember saying,
"I really like her. I think I could marry that gal."

Well, that was January 27, 1971. We got married on October 9, 1971, just 8 & 1/2 months after we met and haven't looked back once.

Yesterday, lovely wife Barb retired from working regularly. I have been done working for a couple of years already. Now, we have some plans and unfinished business.

Over the years, I'm sure I've pizzed her off and dayum sure she has pizzed me off, but we got through it. We got through the heartache, the sadness, the illnesses and the losses. We cherish the laughter, humor, happiness, companionship, relationship and friendship.

I used to be puzzled about my involvement on BK, after all, this is basically a dating site. But as many know, this is a place where people are drawn together to make friendships too. I have made many on the site and thank you for the opportunity to tell you about my life.

Hopefully, and with all humility, folks will work hard to maintain relationships they create and take an example from us two old lovebirds.

Thanks folks for letting me share my happiness.

Here we are, getting ready for Barb's senior prom. May 1971

Damn...what a great gift.

It takes alot for people to open up and let others in. Thanks Spado. You just made my day.

I'm flattered you think enough of us to share that. Wow.

And you're right. I stopped thinking of this place as a 'dating' site a long time ago. Some of my closest friends are here. Those people I can really be myself around. Yep, you and Barb would be part of my group.

You know what? I just realized I have NEVER spoken to Barb. To me, she's a part of your heart I've come to love through you.

Thanks for the picture. I don't care what anyone says. Ya'll were, and still are, one hot pair.
