NEED FOR SPEED

Some people have their Buddha's...
...some they have their Christ
Many find tranquility in the quiet of the night,
When my mind is in a tizzy....
I know just what I need...
I know that I need "grounding", when I feel the need for speed.
So I mount my metal dragon, on her vinyl, padded back.....
Her engine roar my "mantra".....
It will help me to relax.
I soar above the blacktop, as the dragon's engine sings..
I relish every moment on her 1500 wings.
With clarity and focus as the horizons drawing near,
I know my life I?m risking,?with every shifting gear.
With strength, and determination I guide the manmade beast? The asphalt path below me, now flies beneath my feet.
There?s something meditative with increasing RPM?s?
I really can?t explain to you, I know my life could end.
There?s a clan of fellow riders, I know there?s nothing to be told,I can feel their depth and purpose when I see them on the road.
I see the smiles and grinning?in groups of solitude they ride .
Upon their steeds of metal..I can see it in their eyes.
Id really try to tell you..but if you understood,
You?d already be a part, of our secret brotherhood.
So?you can bend in Yoga pretzels if peace in that you find..
You can search the world over for a swami of the mind.
You can take your medications?you can climb on natures hills..
You can hide all life?s frustrations, taking every kind of pill.
As for me I?ll turn the speed up, because the truth of it be told.
I always find my center when the rubber meets the road.
The rest can search in other things..if in this they find their power
But I?m most meditative at 100 miles per hour.

Great poem, Bear! Thanks for sharing :) Welcome to BK also & I see we're neighbors! Great bunch of folks here on this site. I just got back from NYC with around 70 folks from this site & it was absolutely wonderful...I will cherish the memories forever close to my heart...You go out there not knowing anyone personally face to face & you end up forming even a tighter bond of friendship than you had before you go out there...how cool is that...?
By the way, check out in the Message Board for a thread called WI Valentines Get Together (I think that's what it's called anyways!)A bunch of us are getting together in Fond du Lac the weekend of Feb. 11th. It's not just for WI folks - everyone is invited! Take care & have a great day!
