Twenty-five years ago, on Dec. 8, 1980, John Lennon was shot to death outside his New York City apartment building by an apparently deranged fan.
Wow I can't believe how fast time has gone. I remember I was dropping my daughter off at the babysitters house and my mom called to tell me John Lennon was shot. I didn't believe it, and then when we turned on the tv and said he was killed, I went numbed and cried. He was a hero of mine. I loved his music and his beliefs. The best thing I liked when he was protesting by staying in bed and being interviewed. LOL He was so carefree.

So where were you.

I was 29 years old...my husband who was recovering from his first heart surgery (also 29)and I was in my mother's living room. My only brother (20) was killed in a car accident Dec. 6th and we had just gotten home from calling hours at the funeral home. I remember being almost numb with grief for my brother and that news almost made me pass out with a new rush of sadness.

This month is hard for me...my brother passed Dec 6th...my husband the 16th.

I remember quite clearly. My son was 2 months old and we were at my parents place and my sister who adored John came in crying saying he had been killed. It is so sad that someone who stood up for peace was gunned down in a fit of rage. In this season of peace on earth maybe we should take a moment and remember those who worked for, lived and praised PEACE. We should remember all who stand for peace and freedom.
Love and happiness to all.
