The first time I heard this song, it rang so true in my life. The fear, the tears that life brings us. Enjoy it.

Wall Of Denial by Stevie Ray Vaughn

A wall of denial
Is fallin' down
Wo it's fallin' so hard
Down to the ground
Never knew something so strong
Could be washed away by tears
But this wall of denial
Was just built on fear

We've all had our demons
From the garden of white lies
Dressed them amused them
Pullin' wool over our eyes
Go so far as to love them
To keep from letting them go
All the while they we're killin' us
But we couldn't let it show

No matter what the trouble
We carry round inside
We're never safe from the truth
But in the truth we can survive
When this wall of denial
Comes tumblin' down
Down to the ground

Simple things in life
Bring the greatest pleasure
A smile, a kiss
A little baby's laughter
It makes no difference
If we run away in fear
The little things in life hold us so near

No matter what the trouble
We carry round inside
Never safe from the truth
But in the truth we can survive
When this wall of denial
Comes tumblin' down
Yeah this wall of denial
Must tumble down
Down to the ground

SRV has to be one of the greastest guitarist ever. I'm sure we all know the demons he dealt with. Not long after getting clean the helicopter crash takes him. Life ain't fair.
He grew up in the DFW area and honed his chops in bars of Austin. There will never be another Stevie or Jimi the list goes on and on.

Thank you for sharing, jjgirl...very powerful words here in this song from SRV. I saw SRV with Eric C. a few times in concert in Milwaukee. I was not at his concert at Alpine Valley in East Troy the night he crashed in the fog. I wasn't able to go for some reason but a few of my friends did. Everytime I hear a SRV song come on the radio I just crank it or whenever I'm out, I'll usually play whatever songs they have of him. He sure could play guitar...

JJ-What a great post! I love SRV. Seeing those lyrics reminds me of friendships lost due to denial. I will send this along to someone I had to let go.

De Nial is not a river!

May those walls come tumbling down for all of us.

JJ...I can hear the guitar now...and that voice...no one compares to SRV. He is missed.

Ya know..I have never had walls. Not to my knowledge that is. I have always just laid myself open to all that comes blasting at me. It may have been to my benefit if I would have had them. Who knows?.....

Glad your walls are crumbling hon...
