Good old Rene Descarte! Anyway, philosophy aside...

Have you ever really thought about if what you think and what you feel is what you represent? Introspective examination?

I came across something from a while ago. All you are responsible for is the purity of your though and the integrity of your actions... whatever people interpret that as is not your problem.

I guess it rings true -- at least to me. I was listening to Billy Joel's the Stranger the other day. Remember that song?

Anyone ever hear "Time to put on your game face"?

So, we are who we are... we do what we do. Not always good, not always bad... not always in between.

I do have to say though, the few of the folks I have met and spent time with from this site are all good and real people. It is comfortable to spend virtual time and real time with you all. I have yet to meet a "fake" or such, although I read about it here from time to time that others may have had some bad experiences.

Any thoughts?

AJ

DD and AJ,

Sounds like a plan. (Okay, it really sounds like just an idea, with no plan yet, but a good idea in any case....)

We'll have to pick a place somewhere in the middle though. Would that be, like, Arkansas or some such? Is there anything west of the Mississippi or does California just start once you leave Memphis?

Eye and AJ,

Sure would be fun to go out and chat with the two of you.
We might all end up with headaches.

Angel I love that saying about only being as good as your word. my dad tought me that and I still live by it. some folks just can't see past thier own idea's and that is why they sometimes can't see the real person that is being shown to them Maya Angelou said.."when someone show's you who they are believe them." and that goes for both the good and people. and HD very funny! and great bbq sauce too!!!!hehehe... great topic.

EVERY little action creates a reaction. Stand against 'em all. Have you ever seen a willow tree that inspires awe? Beautiful, yes, awe, haven't seen it yet. The oak breaks, fights off the wound when it can, and grows into an intricate and awe-inspiring work of God. Take BBs' cousin, overcoming all the adversity, doing so much good. Compare to our welfare babies, everything given to them, no motivation to do for themselves, fed syrup till they don't appreciate the palatability of MREs.
Yes, we are what we do, the purity of our thoughts is an unattainable perfection that's worth striving for, but without challenge and accomplishment, the integrity and effectiveness of our actions still remains a factor of our exposure to success and our experiences.

i think we have to use our discretion(sp) on which battles are important to us
going with the flow is a good thing when there is nothing we can do to change the situation--yet when there are things we can effect a change we need to speak up

like the willow and the oak tree in high winds--the willow goes with the flow and stands tall afterward and the oak stands tall during and cracks and breaks so is shattered afterwards

we need to pick which winds to stand tall against and for each it will be different

And while I can prove I exist because I think, I cannot prove that any of YOU exist by substituting the word YOU for I. This is because I cannot prove YOU think. Likewise, I cannot replace the word I with the word God and prove his/her/its existance.
Descartes proved his point with his first statement - 5 words. Then he rambled on about it for the rest of the book. Prime example of overkill in philosophy. Makes a good example of redundancy as well.

Yup. My thought is that Descartes kinda meant it more like to mean that "as long as you have thought, as long as you are capable of thinking, you do, in fact exist." If you can't think, you don't exist.

Sometimes I think people over-analyze stuff too much.
