Ya blew, you did what you told us not to do. good luck with this one brudah, your dealing with peoples beliefs...the hardest thing to understand unless you think the same way and the hardest to change, (thats why the power strugle and possibily the reason for your original question I'll bet).

It really revs me up when some idiot bad mouths harleys just because they don't understand but only about 1/100th as much as it does for someone to attack the bible. Back off rogue til you know what you are talking about. Reading the part in your service manual about changing your oil does not make you an engine builder just as taking small parts from the bible does not mean you understand it

No offense Roxie, but that's not bloody likely to happens. I refuse to ask your "god" for forgiveness, because A) I don't do things that I think I'll regret doing, and B) I don't believe in one, all-powerful deity.

I will however defend your right to believe with everything I have.

"Everything was written for a purpose an meaning. You can't take parts of scripture out w/o reading the whole text or chapter."

I said I wasn't getting into this one, but I have only one point to make...You're right everything was written for a purpose...the King James Version was written because King James ordered it so...man has interpreted the bible for thousands of years and no two humans will ever agree...to each his own...Blessed be all!...Angel

In the Old Testament. people lived under the law and were pinnished according to the law of man, in the New testamamt we lived under Grace. That's why Jesus died to pay the price for our sin.
God is love but He is also Holy. Everything was written for a purpose an meaning. You can't take parts of scripture out w/o reading the whole text or chapter. Ask the Lord to show you things that may have you confused.

Proof that the bible contridicts itself.........

    Luke 19: 27

"Now where are my enemies who didn't want me to be king. Bring them here and kill them before me."

    Matthew 10: 34-36

    Matthew 10: 34-36

"Don't think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. I have come to make this happen:
A son will be against his father, a daughter will be against her mother,
a daughter-in-law will be against her mother-in-law, A person's enemies will be members of his own family."

    Judges 19: 23-29

"The owner of the house went outside. And he said to them, "No, my friends. Don't do this terrible thing! Look, here is my daughter. She has never had sexual relations before. And here is the man's slave woman. I will bring them out to you now. Do anything you want with them. But don't do such a terrible thing to this man."
But the men would not listen to him. So the Levite took his slave woman and sent her outside to them. They had sexual relations with her even though she didn't want to. They treated her very badly all night long. Then, at dawn, they let go. She came back to the house where her master was staying. She fell down at the door and lay there until daylight.
In the morning the Levite got up. He opened the door to the house. He went outside to go on his way. But there lay his slave woman. She had fallen down at the doorway of the house. Her hands were on the doorsill. Then the Levite said to her, "Get up; let's go." But she did not answer. So he put her on his donkey and went home.
When the Levite got home, he took a knife and cut his slave woman into 12 parts. Then he sent a part to each of the areas where the people of Isreal lived.

    Numbers 31: 17-18

Kill all the Midianite boys, kill all of the Midianite women who have had sexual relations. ...

I was really aprehensive about posting and with your reply I think that I have not offended...but for a long time that subject has grated on me. They say its not good to talk about relegion and polotics but if we dont talk about things things will not be resolved.

More people have been killed in the name of God than for any other reason.
I'm sure a bible fanatic could quote a passage in the bible to support any view or opinion.
Do I believe in a Higher Power? Yes, but organized religion ?????????
How bout just the golden rule?
    Lets ride!

you are right loco about the us wanting a foothold in the middleast--that is why we built the canel!!!(oil)

if we all lived according to our religion instead of judging the world would be a better place
the fanatics are the ones that add to others bias--they are in every religion and use religion as an excuse to kill
the christians did it in bosnia--the moslems and jews in the middleast--this war and hate has been in existance since time began--the crusades lasted aprox 250 yrs--it is a vivious cycle that goes from one generation to the next--each religion believing that they are the only true religion

The bible DOES NOT contradict itself, it is the inspired word of God. If you and i both saw a car accident, we would go home and tell our families, we would both tell it differntly even though we both witnessed it, same principle. When, not if, you call upon His name.....He will be there.

I'm gonna bow out of this one! I've always had, and will always have, a strong rule against discussing politics and/or religion...opionions are like hineys..everyone has one! ;) Whatever you believe, I'll respect that, as you'll have to respect my spirituality. (word? lol) Be safe all! :)

Just me over here in WA State.
Gotta add my 2cents, been silent too long.
I won't bore you too much, we all have our own thoughts on
this and who is to say who is right or wrong?
I just know that as sure as my next breath that someday you will come to be in dire need of a higher power and I do with all my heart hope you will have the gutts to call on Him... From that day on you will know truth, pure power, faith, hope and unconditional love. And no one will be able to touch that freedom.... No one.....
I live through His grace and mercy.
    I am a free soul.......

Time to get phylisocial on you asses
Religion weather we want to see it or not is power, but it started out inocently enough at first just like money, but now in the eyes of some its like the power associated with money. the original power (weather it came from the ultimate being or beings) was an explanation of life and our purpose (or if there is one) man has corupted that allong with everything els he has touched. Those seeking power over those whoes religion is different or those who have money to take. It now all boils down to the corrupted aquisiton of power. All religions teach tollerance compassion and understanding but it isn't practiced as it should be and history proves this.
The power started out as God's (or gods if that pertains to you) guide for living and living right.
Lets get back to living and living right.

mimmi_68 and seeme1st just remember that man has corrupted the teachings of the Bible and the Corran and it reflects in our socioety.
I respect the both of you greatly. I hope I have offenden no one.

(The United States has wanted a foothold in the Middle East since Trueman)

i don?t believe that the bible contridict it self...
And i do believe that "god says"...

Yes the bible are writen by people, but this people were led by god.
  • View author's info Posted on Mar 08, 2005 at 12:18 PM

i believe that all religions basically in there own words "the golden rule" applies
the bible says do not judge--yet the big 3 in the middle east all they do is judge each other--part of the reason we are at war--not all oil has to do with it also

there are many,,and i see it too, but and its a big BUT, GOD's words don't change, alittle riddled maybe, regardless "Its the Belief" and the way you live, whats "pure" in your heart, thats what GOD knows to be true in you, ignorance is no excuse, and yet he is merciful.
