I'll tell you true about the whole situation,....I feel all but ashamed that we cry and moan and carry on over a down fence or a bad roof...sure, while it was happening it was bad...ain't so bad anymore...really pales in comparison! God be with them all!

Angel..I've always wanted to go down to the beach a day or so before a hurricane hits just to see what you saw. Mother Nature can be a beautiful and ugly thing. La, Ms, Al and Fl have all felt her wrath! Such beauty was destroyed. I heard 90,000,000 miles of gulf coast was wiped out due to Katrina.

"As luck would have it, Jerry, it wasn't intended for you "to get" at all! Only for me to share with my friends...sorry you had to inconvenience yourself by looking in my thread....continue with your mere existence..how lonely it must be to not be able to find beauty where it exists!

Turtle, as I said in another thread, g/f...so thankful that you're ok! I never got the chance to visit your beautiful city...something that I'll regret for a lifetime! My heart goes out to you all that were attacked by this monster and your fellow men/women! Peace, Sister! If you need anything, please, do NOT hesitate to call on me!"

Just a simple difference of opinion Miss Angel, I have NO HATRED in my "Mere Exhistance", life is too beautiful to waste on negative feelings. You find "Beauty" in what you called "This Monster" that attacked so many while I found pain and suffering by looking at the same pic's knowing what it was capable of doing. I don't find Tornado's Beautiful either as some do. Everyone see's something different through their eyes, that's what makes us all different and special in our own ways.

Funny how some can find all this beauty and magnificance by looking at a picture of Mother Nature at her worse time while others dread the obvious loss of life, property damage, another insurance hike, millions of good folks without electricity, water, work, food, cigarettes, beer, gasoline, and have years of hardship ahead of them that many will never recover from. I don't get it. God Bless America, were gonna need it.

Angel...those are some awsome pics g/f! I've seen that myself...more times than I care to remember. But all in all it is facinating to watch mother nature in action!

We forget just how powerful the "powers that be" are. I am thankful that Florida has been spared the brunt of this biotch of a storm. I have many family members and friends all over that beautiful state! Not to mention some great BK friends too! :)

As I write this post it's after 9pm Saturday night and I am sitting amongst the boxes and suitcases to be loaded in the car within a few hours. I am headed north with what I believe to be enough to start over with once this storm passes. It's a erie feeling in the city right not. It's very calm, everyone is working together to protect property, etc. But the silent thoughts about what will be left echo through the city.

For those of you who don't know, New Orleans is already below sea level and is like a bowl with the levy system desiged to deep the water out. However, it keeps the water in as well and can only be removed with pumps. No electricity...no pumps. We could be under 18 feet of water if we get a direct hit! And who knows for how long. We are alot like Florida - we are surrounded by water on ALL sides.

Please pray for those of us along this part of the Gulf that we have easy passage on the highways as we try to get out of harms way and that our city - so rich of history and beauty - is still here next week.

God Bless you all....and thanks for letting me hi-jack your thread Angel.

Gosh Turtle My prayers are with you and all during this storm. I have family in Biloxi and Im in Savh. so I can relate. Just know there are alot of people praying for you guys...

Thanks Angel for sharing the photos. Wow! I saw on my Y page this morning that 4 people have died due to Katrina. I was chatting with your sweetie this morning & asked how everything was going by you after I had read about it. He wasn't sure if you would still have power or not. I'm keeping all of you in my prayers that you don't get hit too bad. You were hit hard enough last year! I know what you mean about the tornados also - I couldn't imagine dealing with hurricanes. Wisconsin was hit pretty hard last Thursday night with tornados. One of my friends was coming home from work & a mattress went flying right in front of her car - at that time she figured she better stop the car & get out of that area! Take care Angel & hopefully I'll connect up with you this weekend. Hugs...

Awwww..thanks C...We're fine here in Vero...the sun is shining right now...and it's hotter than hell! AGAIN! lol If what 750 says is true, then Florida has been blessed!
I'm sorry to say this, but it's time for this Angel to fly away! I realized yesterday that I can't stay in an area so depressed and remain happy myself..it's taking everything I have to smile these days and I have sooooo much to smile about!
If you'll read 750's response, how he dreads going through this again, that is the norm here...folks are forgetting the "take care of your neighbor and they'll take care of you" rule! I can't live like this...yep, it's time for me to move on...thinking..closer to my family, kids, grands, and dad...getting back into the tornado part of the country...at least you can hit a ditch and it's over in a few minutes..here...you get to dread it for days and clean up for years! Don't get me wrong..I love Florida...its just not been too good to me!

I know how you feel Angel, I've been contemplating the same thing...moving where hurricanes don't exist...someplace cold like Michigan.
Last year after Charley hit we went without power for 14 days, 42 hours with Frances and 37 hours because of Jeane.
You really appreciate those simple things like running water when you smell like a swamp monkey? Ha ha!
I know if I volunteer my help there
down yonder I'll just get in the way
an probably get dehydrated.
Those folks are going to go through some days of Helll, especialy those who don't "camp" well.
Your right Angel it's good to see fellow BKers posting that they made it through with nairy a scratch.
Cool!
Peace.
Remember a stranger is just a friend
I've never met?
