well have a back up plan next time you make arrangements to meet someone--know the area set up an appointment for a pedicure or a manicure and treat yourself to something special- and by the time you are done with the pedicure or manicure you will have forgotten all about him.and if by chance they do show up you can always call and cancel the appointment.either way you come out the winner.

Actually I was talking to a friend of mine on this type of subject the other night. One thing that we concluded and probably most others have . Is that it is easy to hide behind a computer screen and give people what they want to hear (mind you, you have to be good a reading people but what con man isn't). You can make up all these fantasies about your income, home, your personality, who and what you are basically. But one day you are brought back into reality and the person can't face it. But what I object to most are people trying to continue the farce of lying when they are caught out and then they try to pick fights so that they can say they walked out lmao. Some people just don't know when to quit.
I have had email and messenger contacts for months and then all of a sudden they are no longer there. I have been lucky in the live meetings only 1 disappeared there lol.
I have been on both sides of the fence.. I have had to tell people that there was nothing there and vice versa. That does not give me sleepless nights.
I guess we just have to keep our guard up and take one step at a time.
    Ride safe everyone.

same thing happened to me two times ,but I met them both and one visited me twice, and from edgewater too...hummmm. I don't know why they just can't tell ya the truth. it's not a big deal sometimes people just don't "click" but after meeting a couple times and a lot of correspondance it just doesn't make sense. anyway don't give up. you are really cute and I'm sure you will find someone . I'm going to try not to give up too since as they say sometimes s**t just happens. it would be nice though to be told what happened.

Well, that probably works for some men and some married women- but the secrecy part would never work for me!

I know what you mean IndoorVoice (your Posting 17-AUG-05)
I have had the same for a lady on this site. We set a date to meet for coffee and a hour before she called to put off an hour. Then was a no show. No call or email for 2 days. Then we tried again this time for diner. I waited 2 hour and this time not so much as a call or email just up and disapeared. Why do people do that? The last one turned out was just posting profiles on different sites to scam men out of money. I don't know about anyone else but honesty in dating does go along way.

Ya start with a ewink, move to emails, maybe 3 to 5 a day, then ya proceed to messenger for a lil over a week, then ya do the call thing for and you talk several times a day,,EVERYTHING is GREAT !...The day comes where ya meet for lunch...the luncheon was super fun, great company and great food...
Several days pass and you still havent heard from her/him...
What in gods name went wrong ?...And if something went wrong or there wasnt a connection.. Why cant they openly admit it ?...

another perspective.....we are always so quick to feel "whats wrong with me", ya know, betcha a lot of times these guys are feeling more insecure/inadequete than we are and figure they can't measure up to expectations....not necessarily meaning that they lied about anything, just think you are too "hot" or "together" or whatever, and IT IS THEIR INSECURITIES that causes their actions....not condoning the handling of their feelings, certainly a nice white lie is absolutely the minimum requirement....ya know like, "sorry, i can't make it, i'm getting married in the morning" or something??!!!

sometimes when we finally meet the electricity isnt there and some guys would rather hide then simply say , Im sorry it wasnt there for me , I have met several women who turned out to be considerably heavier then they led me to believe . I assume they thought that thier personalities were so terrific that they could overcome the weight issue but dishonesty is a tw o way street . I am ashamed that I must consider weight as a criteria but the little head gets a say in matters too , it has become such a problem that if all I see is a head shot now Im gonna ask for a full picture . I know that some of the best people in the world are overweight but that just isnt what Im into and conversely many women want a guy taller then my almost perfect self . FOr me it's weight for someone else it could be something as silly as bad breath , whatever it is if the person drops off the face of the earth after the first meeting just consider it a life lesson and that all folks will n ot be honest with you . It might not be something you need to internalize , or maybe your just yucky in person , only kidding .

Bear, that happens to me also. Thats just the way it is, we like what we like, can't help it. Can't force ourselves to like people that are not our style.

Hey guys...i'm a larger woman and i couldn't agree more with you....i haven't always been a big girl...so i know both sides..and what i know is that are a lot of hot, gorgeous and great guys that do prefer larger women, and a lot of guys that are like me-no preference , i get stimulated by the mind and character first-s*x will be great if i have intellectuall intercourse 1ST! my point is, ya'll have every right to your preferences and should never apologize for them...it's the people who preach and want to downgrade others for their appearance, whether their too skinny, too fat, too whatever.....if we all avoid criticism and stuck with "this is my choice" mentality, it isn't offensive.....i'd rather be thin, i'd rather do thinner.......and most my men have been,,,, but thats a topic for my therapist!! by the way, i do ugly also....remember - it's all mental at 1st (Now, i will admit, when it comes to my p*rno, everyone better be movie star gorgeous!!! LOL

    Yep it happens..Id move on..

I do agree, simply move on. I was prepared to meet up with a guy in Edgewater, MD...no expectations..just thought we hit it off and could have alot of fun in the sun..for a few days. If we clicked we clicked if not...no big deal....needless to say, he extended the invite and then fell off the face of the earth when I agreed I might just take him up on his offer..A response of any kind is the polite and adult thing to do..never took it to heart..just moved on....you deserve that much..keep smiling..

Well I am about 20 miles from Edgewater MD and here I am. Come on down.

Thanks for the winks Marzen....not ignoring just busy packing for a local move next weekend...less then 20 miles..lol

Well put Happy Kitty. Any man who can't come out and tell me that he is no longer interested needs to grow a set. It's not like I bite, well not unless they ask nicely ;)

Aw, sooner or later ya get used to it. (lie) Ya just rode 300 miles to meet someone, after checking them out by email, pho*ne, etc. The trip was a bummer from the start, with speed traps, old folks in sleds and maniac truckers who have decals on their cabs, keeping score of the bikers they've killed. Bt through the bugs, the rain and that hail storm atop the Ozarks, you've managed to get there on time. You watch anxiously out the window, awaiting her arrival, checking out every car that pulls into the parking lot. Finally you think you see her. She comes in the door, looks around, giving you a glance. Then she sees someone else she knows and goes over to sit with them. You tell yourself, "Maybe that isn't her", but you know it is. Finally you get out of there; a little embarassed, a little angry, but a hell of a lot wiser. Oh well, at leasat you put some miles on and got a cuppa joe out of the deal. : )
