My son just left me to go back home to Arkansas..we had the MOST wonderful week together! Last night as he was laying on the couch watching TV, I laid down beside him with my head resting on his shoulder and he wrapped his big ole bear arms around me and held me close! I told him "who would have thought when I was holding you in my arms 28 yrs ago that 28 yrs later that you would be holding me in yours!" He softly whispered "I love you Mommy". I looked up and he was crying and I, of course, was crying...we hung on to each other for dear life!
I sent him home today early trying to keep him ahead of the hurricane that is coming in on the Gulf side..he has to drive right through there...he's called me several times to let me know he's safe and each time has told me over and over how much he loves me! This fine young beautiful man that is probably my only claim to fame! Thank God...if I could only do one thing right, I'm glad it was him!

TN, you take care in all this bad weather headed for you all! My thoughts and my prayers are with us all! Love, my family!!! Angel

ANGEL, I THINK THAT IS SUCH A BLESSING TO HAVE THAT KIND OF QUALITY TIME WITH YOUR CHILD! I MISS THAT WITH MY OLDEST....BUT ANYTIME MY KIDS TELL ME THEY LOVE ME THERE'S NO LOVE THAT CAN OUT DO THAT!

Windspirit, I have been where you are. When my first grandchild (who would be 15 this year) was born, my daughter & I were not speaking. In fact, I made it known that if she & her husband showed up where I was living, I would turn them over to the police for something my son-in-law had done. I missed the birth but when he was 3 months old, I received a p*hone call. In a split second I had to decide if I wanted to continue the feud with my daughter or be a part of my grandson's life. I chose the later. It didn't mean that I had forgotten the past, I just decided which road to take. I never again mentioned the things to her that had caused the riff in the first place.
Start slow, maybe send a small token to the baby. Offer the olive leaf, so to speak. I wish you the best & congratulations!

THANKS (TN) AND (SEEME) I LEFT A MESSAGE AND HE CALLED ME BACK.....MY SON SAID HE'D CALL BACK WHEN MY GRANDAUGHTER IS BORN......IT'S 3:30P AND I'M JUST WAITING TO GO SEE MY GRANDDAUGHTER....THERE IS A GOD AND HE IS GOOD!

Congratulations Wind! May God and all the powers that be bless you and yours!!!

Yo Family

No has ever said it clearer than this:
From The Prophet
On Children

And a woman who held a babe against her bosom said, "Speak to us of Children."

And he said:

Your children are not your children.

They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself.

They come through you but not from you,

And though they are with you, yet they belong not to you.

You may give them your love but not your thoughts.

For they have their own thoughts.

You may house their bodies but not their souls,

For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow, which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.

You may strive to be like them, but seek not to make them like you.

For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.

You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth.

The archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite, and He bends you with His might that His arrows may go swift and far.

Let your bending in the archer's hand be for gladness;

For even as He loves the arrow that flies, so He loves also the bow that is stable.

i havn't written for awhile, and please forgive me if i babble on....i do live alone you see...lol...yes, my children are my soul...long story short...they were 5 and 6 when their dad got sick, all three of us took care of him for 7 years at home, each to our own skill level--they are 29 now (irish twins)with babies of their own ....we pulled each other out of hell several times after his death, from drugs, etoh, self destruction, ect...the bond we have is an unspoken bond that no one can break....we each have our own lives now, but they have become me as i have become them....i see that unconditional love from them going to their children everyday, so the legacey continues, and for that i will always be greatful.....that i did something right somewhere to have been given such wonderful kids........

I agree with all of you and believe all children are a speacial blessing from God. I have four,2 boys 21 and 17,and 2 girls 20 and 16. Unfortunately my ex took the younger 2 from me and he and his new ife have completely cut them off from myself and older daughter. I miss them so much it feels like my heart has been ripped out. I hope that they know my door will always be open to them if they need me, but they also have to learn to stand on their own as adlts, with us to lean on from time to time. God bless all, Dove

i think as a parent part of the reward is when we see our kids succeed
whether in a difficult subject at school--any task that didn't come easy--stumbling and picking themselves up without help--the birth of their 1st child--buying their 1st home

the unconditional love of a parent--so wanted and needed
