DD and to everyone of us who deal with back and neck heart goes out to each and everyone of ya'll. I started working with a neurologist about five months ago and I see the help he does for people and it amazes me. I have been holding surgery off since 1991 with four crushed and disentagrating discs in my lower back. I have never used meds or any treatment for this injury except my chiropractor and a newly acquired tinge unit. Since I work on a computer daily, it has messed up my neck but not to the extent of yours DD. HC and I have talked several times about the hell she is going through....prayers to each and everyone of all

Blew the disk between nr 4 and 5 disk about 10 years ago. Looked like a peeled banana when you looked at the xrays. Dr fused the disk together. Prior the the surgery the pain was unbelieveable. Meds would not touch it. After surgery I was walking in a couple of days and running again with in a week. Dr was not happy about it but I was. Would do it over again with no problem. Hope this helps....

HC- MMMmmmm. Saw the Doc yesterday morning. The MRI was bounced again. My Doc has been putting in her own time to handle this. Her lunch hours, and on her own personal time. When I heard this-I got so pizzed; on her behalf~~~~
I am ready to Snaggle the Snagglepuss who Snaggled it.
Didn't want to share until it was good news. Hopefully good news will be today.

HC-Best of luck with the shots! I will be waiting and hoping they work for you. What exactly do they inject your spine area with?

Rev- Sorry they didn't work for you. Glad you do have some things that are helping.

Mo- As always, great to see your posts.

    Seeme- you too g/f!

Pawitchy- Hi. Been missing you. Hope all is well with you and that you are having some fun on BK finding friends to ride with.

It looks like a lot of good people have been going through and HAVE gone through a lot to 'stay in the wind.' Anyone who wants to email, Im, call, etc. with me would be very welcome to do so. I have been making some great like-minded friends here on Bk and cherish you!

Hugs and good energy to all of you~~

Thanks seeme - I'm hoping it works. I'm so tired of taking pain killers all the time.

I go for my first shot on Oct. 3rd. I'm a little nervous about going.

HC, I had epidural steroid injections in my low back about 6 1/2 months ago.

Unfortunately, they didn't work for me. I know that they have been a big benefit for others, though.

Good luck and I wish you the best!

Hey there DD. . . I have never had neck surgery but I did have my lower back operated on by a neurosurgeon when I had some disks sitting on sciatic nerve. This helped release the pain very quickly. Like I said in your reading last night I believe that surgery will give you about 50% relief immediately. Sure there are risks, but I am a wus and could never handle the pain you describe. I also bought one of those Select Comfort Sleep Number beds and that really helps too. When I sleep at a hotel or somewhere other than home, I always feel pain the next day. Meditations, healing energy can only take you so far if there are issues dealing with your spine and nervous system. Wishing you hugz and healing!

LOL! I knew people would start adding on this thread about their pain in the neck Ex-!
Too funny! Well, I should ask for something here? A note of compassions?

  • View author's info Posted on Sep 14, 2005 at 05:01 AM

Is very true that there are two sides to all thngs (including some thngs unknown by all). And since this thread is actually about DD's health we should stick with the focus and do what we can to help give encouragement and support in the direction it is actually needed.

Just like even doctors tell people to get a second opinion before jumping into the decision to get a surgery or what else can be done to help........... The most imprtant thing is we help DD with as much support and encouragement and see her to be back to great health so she will be able to ride again and feel great about it !!!

We are here to support you DDD.......

I don't like to meddle in things I know very little about, but It seems that I can see both sides of this.

I don't understand why the harsh comments towards Cisco. Seems to me like he was just injecting some light-hearted humor. To which the 3rd post; DD even responded with an "LOL" and a "Too Funny". Therefor I think Cisco's post did what it was intended to do - Make DD laugh.

It seems all the bad-vibes didn't start in this thread until someone ELSE interjected...

I've met Cisco this past Labor Day weekend at the poker run, and he was a pretty stand-up, generous guy.

On the other hand, I also can understand the other side. Perhaps Cisco could have made his post little less "intrusive" had he added a simple "...but hope you're feeling better soon." to the end. I dunno'.

Let's just not all jump to one side's defence after only hearing their side.

And DD, I hope you're feeling better! I've had one hellova' neck injury a few years back, they truely stink! And seemingly take forever to heal!

    Peace out everyone!

*leaves the thread air-drumming to Led Zeppelin - Communication Breakdown*

  • View author's info Posted on Sep 13, 2005 at 09:23 AM

DD....I can sympathize with you. There was a time in my life when I had excrutiating lower back pain and sometimes it is difficult to make people understand what you are going thru. I had minor surgery to remove a cyst, which helped a little. I found that doing workouts to strengthen my abs helped a lot. I hope you can find a solution that doesn't involve surgery, but if it comes to that, I wish you all the best and am sending you lots of good energy and hugs. Stay positive; you have a lot of friends in your corner.

Thank you so much for your words of encouragment. It is wonderful to know that I have a few people who really care and are watching my back. Knowing that you, Ken and Harley chick are holding me in your hearts for healing and a safe trip through this severe pain and possible scary neck surgery means the world to me. I am here, at home, without family, unable to take care of the business of life right now and scared chitless about going under the knife. The pain levels are beyond anything meds can touch and I refuse to go to narcotic pain killers. If they worked, they would only cover up the neck pain, not solve it. I don't want to go around, trying to function feeling groggy. It is a perfect day to ride today in Ventura and I would love nothing more than to hop on a bike right now, but can't. I am sending hugs to everybody here who have expressed kindness and support- Thank you-It means the world to me! This is my family now. I hope to find good support here and any prayers and healing thoughts sent my way work, as well as making me feel protected and gives me hope that I can get back on a bike soon.

Humer is a great thing. There are some things that it helps with if/when you back it up with at least a 'little' bit of encouragement, when the topic is about pain that is not funny thing to have to deal with constantly. The whole point being, it would be great to have some encouragement...............
