" As surely as I live,' says the Lord 'every knee will bow beforeme; every tongue confess to God.'" So then, each of us will give an account of himself to God. Romans 14:11 and 12

my 2 cents on this subject

we can argue till the cows come home!!!! and never get to the same point

my father was an irish catholic--my mom's dad was a southern baptist minister in the navy we were raised lutheran

the one thing i remember most of all from my mom, which came from her dad--because he had to minister to ALL faiths in the navy

religion has been the reason for many wars and many mass exterminations

sooooooooo those who profess to be true christains acceptance of others is the way jesus lived

and as i have said before it is easy to talk the talk--the challange is to walk the walk

    love and peace to all

    OK< here goes the firefight.

Catchme, I'm not angry about the bible, it's just a book.

psironman, yeah, I AM a rogue, don't like it, too bad, I'm not here to win a popularity contest. Don't like Maryland, don't go there.

What I am angry about is people who don't know me presuming that they can tell me how I should live my life.

wow lotta different opinions here.some seem angry at others beliefs. I believe in what i chose to believe in and if works for me and helps me then so be it.Each of us has different beliefs. which whats makes us who we are..
i find those that have such strong opinions and are angry are simply displacing their anger else where.. knowledge of what is stated on what page of the bible does not mean anything to me-- HOW U ACT and what u do speaks of wht u believe in. Rouge curious as to why u are so angry about bible..

this is the first time i read this post, i hate to pass judgement...as for the bible---i wasn't living in thoes times-with their views of life or their existance of life---so how can we judge why someone beleived like they did, we were not there-it worked for them, so be it---i can only judge a higher power in this time we live in....we always seem to condem God, or higher powers---i don't think the question should be where was god when this happened or why he let it happened....we should ask "where the hell was man", and why did we let this happen....there are alot of unexplainable things that happen, and is it god, a higher power?....i don't know---i just like it when it happens, and just say thank-you..............hummmmmmmmm

Always remember those who were the most righteous and had all the sacred text(it wasn't until the printing press that the bible was available to more than a select few) were the very ones who judged Christ and condemned him to death.
So in your righteous judgement of others you are participating in the crime that crucified your saviour.
"forgive them for they know not what they do."

"the wise will be made foolish and the foolish wise..."

It is not in my job description as a Christian to pass judgement.

    Hey Rogue,
    It's real simple...
Just knowing there is a power out there greater then YOU!
Could YOU handle that ot not?

Hey...Rogue, Sweetie, as you said to Roxie, I'll defend your right to believe as you will with MY last breath! The rest of us need to remember....Judge not, lest ye be judged!
Ride on Brothers and Sisters, in peace!!...Angel

  • View author's info posted on Mar 21, 2005 14:43

Roxie, keep this mind, I have not, nor will I ever bend my knee to ANYONE or ANYTHING.

You believe as you will and I'll support your right to do so with my last breath. But do NOT presume to tell me who I serve.

i myself don't understand the bible, love some of the stories, but i will admit i do like the beatitudes the best--to me they are what i need, everyone needs something different, and 100 people could read the same sentance and come out with 100 different answers, because we all need different things at different times, i've seen bibles destroy people and also seen it safe people...its just personnal choice, and depends on our needs.....now i dont know if this made any sence, but to me it does.......lmso....is this good or bad?

Rogue, ever read the lost books of the Bible? I understand your reasoning, I really do!
  • View author's info posted on Mar 16, 2005 15:18

Ya blew, you did what you told us not to do. good luck with this one brudah, your dealing with peoples beliefs...the hardest thing to understand unless you think the same way and the hardest to change, (thats why the power strugle and possibily the reason for your original question I'll bet).
  • View author's info posted on Mar 16, 2005 07:24

No offense Roxie, but that's not bloody likely to happens. I refuse to ask your "god" for forgiveness, because A) I don't do things that I think I'll regret doing, and B) I don't believe in one, all-powerful deity.

I will however defend your right to believe with everything I have.

"Everything was written for a purpose an meaning. You can't take parts of scripture out w/o reading the whole text or chapter."

I said I wasn't getting into this one, but I have only one point to make...You're right everything was written for a purpose...the King James Version was written because King James ordered it so...man has interpreted the bible for thousands of years and no two humans will ever agree...to each his own...Blessed be all!...Angel

Proof that the bible contridicts itself.........

    Luke 19: 27

"Now where are my enemies who didn't want me to be king. Bring them here and kill them before me."

    Matthew 10: 34-36

    Matthew 10: 34-36

"Don't think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. I have come to make this happen:
A son will be against his father, a daughter will be against her mother,
a daughter-in-law will be against her mother-in-law, A person's enemies will be members of his own family."

    Judges 19: 23-29

"The owner of the house went outside. And he said to them, "No, my friends. Don't do this terrible thing! Look, here is my daughter. She has never had sexual relations before. And here is the man's slave woman. I will bring them out to you now. Do anything you want with them. But don't do such a terrible thing to this man."
But the men would not listen to him. So the Levite took his slave woman and sent her outside to them. They had sexual relations with her even though she didn't want to. They treated her very badly all night long. Then, at dawn, they let go. She came back to the house where her master was staying. She fell down at the door and lay there until daylight.
In the morning the Levite got up. He opened the door to the house. He went outside to go on his way. But there lay his slave woman. She had fallen down at the doorway of the house. Her hands were on the doorsill. Then the Levite said to her, "Get up; let's go." But she did not answer. So he put her on his donkey and went home.
When the Levite got home, he took a knife and cut his slave woman into 12 parts. Then he sent a part to each of the areas where the people of Isreal lived.

    Numbers 31: 17-18

Kill all the Midianite boys, kill all of the Midianite women who have had sexual relations. ...

I was really aprehensive about posting and with your reply I think that I have not offended...but for a long time that subject has grated on me. They say its not good to talk about relegion and polotics but if we dont talk about things things will not be resolved.
