Hey all... a group I belong to did the ride to the Keys last year from Daytona. The ride stopped in Florida City for the night (cheaper than Key Largo) and then we got an escort all the way to Key West the next morning with a layover for lunch at Holiday Isle. It was great... rode 50-55 all the way down and no red lights to stop at. So if there is enough bikes (we had about 65 bikes and 4 cages) to make it worth their while, Monroe Sheriffs office will do the escort with enough notice. Keeps the group together and you get down there in no time at all. Believe me, when it is raining in Daytona it is usually clear in Key West !!
Hey Kat, you asked if anyone had an extra P-Pad, excuse me for not being "Motorcycle Correct" I ride a Honda, it has Disc Pads. If someone tells me they need a P Pad I'm hunting the closest Portolet or rest area. lol.
Hey Jerry - Lakeland was talking about a week long trip & I don't think I can get away for that long, but I'm going to try! And if you stop feeding me all those beers & watch the bumps... LOL
27 is a very nice ride once you make it past lake wales. I usually run all the way down to the turnpike extension. Hop on the pike for 33 miles and you're on US1 in florida City just outside the keys. I usually do the run from lakeland to key west in 7 hours but I figured if we ride as a group we should take it easy and spend the first night in Ley Largo and make our way slowly down to KW. maybe spend a night in Islamorada then on to KW for one or two nights and then a slow ride back. Depending where everybody is coming from we can meet up anywhere. For those that want to start out at my place you're welcome to come the day before, shower, shave at my place and crash out for the night and then leave from there. i know Angelrider will start from my place (if I can get her out of bed) lol Sorry baby....
I agree with Jorge...forgot about Leesburg! It's a great little fest and I, for one, would love to do it again! Squirrel, what do you think? Lakeland, would you like to join us? I have at least three other riders with me...let me know you two. :)
Kat, I am sure that we can find a back seat for you. So far we have 3 takers and 3 bikes that means 3 emty back seats. I was thinking last week of April or first week in May. Angel are you good with those dates? I will e-mail you personally to start the setup. anybody that is interested just chime in.
