I have heard several that I like but the one that sticks in my head was said to me by a good friend: "The only things in life that you can't change are what race you where born and facing death, all the rest is up to you."

The one that I heard said the most thru my later teen years was from my mother "One day may your child do you what you are doing to me" Of course that was usually right after the I would listen to the cop say "Ma'am is this your daughter?"
