A little boy wanted to meet God. He knew it was a long trip to where God
lived, so he packed his suitcase with Twinkies and a six pack of root beer
and he started his journey. When he had gone about three blocks, he met an
old woman. She was sitting in the park, just staring at some pigeons. The boy sat down next to her and opened his suitcase. He was about to take a drink from his root beer when he noticed that the old lady looked hungry, so he offered her a Twinkie. She gratefully accepted it and smiled at him. Her smile was so pretty that the boy wanted to see it again, so he offered her a root beer. Again, she smiled at him. The boy was delighted!
They sat there all afternoon eating and
smiling, but they never said a word. As it grew dark, the boy realized how
tired he was and he got up to leave, but before he had gone more than a few
steps, he turned around, ran back to the old woman, and gave her a hug. She
gave him her biggest smile ever.
When the boy opened the door to his own
house a short time later, his mother was surprised by the look of joy on his
face. She asked him, "What did you do today that made you so happy?" He
replied, "I had lunch with God." But before his mother could respond, he
added, "You know what? She's got the most beautiful smile I've ever seen!"
Meanwhile, the old woman, also radiant with joy, returned to her home. Her son was stunned by the look of peace on her face and he asked, "Mother, what did you do today that made you so happy?" She replied, "I ate Twinkies in the park with God." However, before her son
responded, she added, "You know, he's much younger than I expected."
Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a
listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of
which have the potential to turn a life around.
People come into our lives for a reason, a season, or lifetime. Embrace
all equally! Send this to people who have touched your life in a special
way. Let them know how important they are. Have lunch with God, bring a twinkie...

I know, Spadoman...kind of scary when you think of it, hey? I used to love eating Twinkies - I haven't had one in years! My Mom used to make a Twinkie Torte - can you imagine the calories in that? Yikes!

Don't believe her....we all know why people keep twinkies that long....they either ran out of weed or were doing an experiment for the feds on how long a twinkie would last in a box of k-rations....and I don't recall smiles being a military girl, so.......

I have a story about Twinkies. Did you know that eventually they do get old? I have a package of them in my office as a gift from a friend back in 12/01 that I chose never to open. They are as hard as a rock!

ummm...can i ask why you would have them that long?

For some reason I had a feeling you would ask that question, Stillme...The story I shared here about bringing a twinkie was sent to me back in 11/01 & I have saved it since. And for some reason, yesterday I felt like I wanted to dig the story up & share with all of you. Back in 11/01 I decided to apply for a different job in the building I work in. I loved the people I worked with but I didn't care much for one of the bosses anymore. It was a crazy month of Nov. with trying to do my old job & with trying to train for my new job. And if anything could go wrong with my old job, it went wrong. So one night...11/28/01 to be exact...I was staying late at work & I finally decided to take a break & look through my e-m ails & I had a ton of them. For some reason, the one I picked to read from a dear friend of mine at work was "Bring a Twinkie". By the time I finished reading it to the end, I was in tears...I couldn't believe I started crying over a "twinkie". My first day then starting my current job was on 12/3/01 & my roommate at the time who also works where I work & was in the unit that I was leaving, she had written a note to me for me to see that morning at home saying good luck with my new job & all & she had this package of Twinkies with the note. I have chosen not to ever open this package of Twinkies because it always reminds me of where I came from with that job & where I currently am now with my job. It just is a little daily reminder that I made the right choice in life...
I know...I'm a goof hey? Saving a Twinkie...

ah the story behind the story...and a very good one at that!

Umm so if My twinkie gets old enough, it will get hard again? alright!
