My Prayers go to the families that lost loved ones during this time.
As for overall on the rally i don't know but i had heard the death toll was down from the average what ever that was granted we still had a few stupid accidents happen after the fact
I got back home from SO CAL on Friday evening and I've been pretty busy this past weekend ... but, I thought I might share this ...
This is artwork Mike did ... ALL ballpoint pen! Isn't it beautiful?!
He was a very talented artist ... he had SO many paintings of beautiful women and he also did a lot of one of his favorite bands ... The Rolling Stones.
I have a "watercolor" of the Stones that he did and I can't wait to frame it and a couple others that I acquired from his collection!
I apologize for jumping in on this thread so late. It is so hard to keep up sometimes. My deepest sympathies to all of the friends and families of fallen Brother's and Sister's who lost their lives at the Sturgis rally. Nightrain, I am so sorry to hear that one of your friends was one of them. My heart goes out to you.
Nightrain54 write: Thanks SLB, There were 40 bikes in the memorial ride yesterday, weather was beatiful, and we put approx 250 mile on, toasting Mike at his favorite watering holes. I'm sure he was smiling from ear to ear!
My condolences again to you L.Unfortunately, this is the downside of the lifestyle. Just remember your friend passed doing what he loved most.
NightTrain condolences to you and your friends .....sorry is never enough to say when you loose a friend...I've been to Sturgis and there's always casualties...most are accidents...and it reminds us we are all only human...A price we pay for the freedom of the wind......

I will be attending a funeral this Thurs. in SO CAL for someone in my life named "Mike" too. I knew him for 23 years. That's also how I want to remember him. ;^)
He lived life to it's fullest!
~~ Here's a toast to those that know HOW to LIVE! ROCK ON!!! ~~

Night Train,
Sorry to hear of your loss and of all the other fallen.
Glad to hear the memorial was on a beautiful day to ride and that your friend Michael was honored by you and your friends.

while at sturgis I seen 3 accidents that were because of riders with no experience. That many bikes and drinking bound to have deaths.I have michale in my thoughts sorry for your loss.
Nightrain54, It's always Sad to loose a brother in a crash, especially on the way to an event where it makes it harder on the "Family" of the deceased.
I've had too much experience with this. I won't go into this now.
Just keep your head high and remember your brother the way he lived! Not how he died.
"Peace"
I knew Micahael. We rode together some and you could always see him at the "Tool Shed" here in Kansas City. He was better known as "Rathole" Mike. There is a Memorial ride for him this Sunday the 21st 10:00 a.m. starting at the Tool Shed bar on Hwy40 just north of Noland Road in Kansas City, MO. He was a greata guy, and will be missed by all. See my post under The Message Board.
Thanks,
I heard 7 deaths. Here's what the net has:

VALENTINE, Neb. (AP) - A Missouri man and a Nebraska woman have died in separate motorcycle accidents.
The Cherry County Sheriff's Office in Nebraska says 58-year-old Michael J. Lukens was traveling with a group of riders on Saturday when he apparently lost control and rolled into a ditch near Valentine, Nebraska.
Lukens, of Lee's Summitt, Missouri, died in a Lincoln (Nebraska) hospital.
Also, Angela R-Brown of Omaha (Nebraska) was thrown to the pavement yesterday when the motorcycle her husband was driving swerved in Custer State Park in South Dakota.
