While gold diggers certainly do exist -- to the dismay of many
wealthy and not-so-wealthy men -- even the most unmaterialistic woman
will admit to not liking cheap men. The reasons why may surprise you,
as it has little to do with the money itself, and more to do with
what it represents.
generous spirit
You see, women view how a man spends -- or fails to spend -- his
money as a direct reflection of how generous and giving he is as a
person. For example, a man who calculates his every dime and rarely
treats his woman, or his friends for that matter, will be seen as a
tightwad who puts his own bottom line above all else.
Furthermore, they will assume that this trait applies to all aspects
of the man's character, from how open he is with his feelings to how
much love he is able to give. This is not to say that women equate
love with money; simply that women will be more drawn to a man who is
generous both in finances and spirit.
girls just wanna have fun
Another reason why women don't like cheap men is, quite simply, that
it is much harder to have a good time with a cheap man than it is
with one who doesn't mind investing in one. Unfortunately, those
activities that are the most fun tend to cost a little more. Consider
watching wrestling on pay-per-view for a few bucks versus going to
see it live; it just can't compare.
meet her halfway
Many women are generous by nature and love doing things for their
significant others, like making them a nice dinner. It is only
natural that such women expect their men to give a little bit as
well, whether by taking them out for an all-expenses paid night on
the town, or taking off work early to surprise them. Most women will
quickly tire of doing things for their men if they get nothing in
return, materially or otherwise.
don't be a $ucker
But by no means should you always pick up the bill and buy your woman
expensiv...
This is only short so I'll tell you my theory on treating a lady. It was based on the bible but regardless of your faith, the basic
principle still holds.
God first created man (Adam), after creating man he decided that man
would need a mate, so he took a rib from Adam and created woman (Eve).
My way of thinking is this, woman was created as a gift from God to man and so we(men) should be treating all women like a gift from God.
Cherish them, idolize them, protect them from harm and shower them
with love to show our appreciation for such a wonderful gift.
In my opinion, anybody (man) who does not do this does not appreciate his gift and doesn't deserve to keep it.
I firmly believe that just finding a good woman who will love you back is a minor miracle in itself and it should be celebrated as such on
regular occasions.
The only fault in this theory is sometimes women can act more like a
curse than a gift so it makes my job a bit harder. But I keep trying
regardless, if I keep having my heart walked over and broken then it's my
own fault for not recognizing the right gift which was intended for me
in the first place.

The way we choose to shower a woman with love can be accomplished in many ways, the more ways the better, but 1 way is to show them that we are willing and able to share our money with them by spending some of it on them. 1 rose carries the same message as a bunch, but 3 dozen just says it much LOUDER!!! LOL

Ridinsolo..maybe he'll marry us both? Naahhh no marriage for me. But I would go to a concert. heeeheee
Well I maybe of a different thought but...I was the main bread winner for 90% of my marriage..my thoughts are a little different. When I spend time w/a man I like to pull my fair share in the money department. Now he might buy dinner one night.....I might buy a different.
He might drive on a trip...I'll buy every other tank of gas.
I don't do dutch..that seems weird. But I do think turn about is fair play. Then he is not draining his finances b/c of me....and I feel like I have contributed.
I don't do dutch either. Not just weird, but to me it feels rude. But least to say I have a friend I go to dinner with every now and then. She is a buisness woman that once in a while realizes she needs to take time off. We are friends, our nights out boil down to telling the waiters to come back later cause we haven't looked at the menue yet. We can talk for hours. But thats it. When the night is oven we know who's turn it is to pay. This relationship works and keeps things level. But we never keep score. Things like we had Ice cream on the beach two months ago and she paid. Now we're eating sherbet before the main course and it's my turn to pay doesn't matter. Because it's the value of the company at the time that has the true value. Who knows in about two months or so when she climbs back down to the streets from her coperate lader, we may be at a 4-star or even wendeys. LOL But thats the way it is "TODAY"
So You're Doing OK GIRL
Oh, to maintain the flavor of this post, you being a fan. My favorite Redbone song right now is.

Your words are close to the way I raised my girls.
If a man wants to take you out for a dinner and a show, he should be paying cause he values your company. But beware soom guys are cheap and are looking only for a 3-4-1 deal. If you fall for the pressure of this, You just became cheap yourself. Then he will see you that way next time.

HOLY COW, I haven't heard that name in 25 years. Is he still alive?
He's still alive. And still does shows. He doesn't get around to well. He will only drive from one show to another. The man refuses to fly. But he's getting up there so if you have a chance now is the time to see him. It's a good thing he does his shows sitting down. He's the "Master of Laid Back" Followers still love him.

Leon who? LOL! Thats what most people say. Saw his show here in tampa. Can't help but love him.
It's a wonder how many times over the years I had to replace the tapes and disk I had of his. I even found myself hiding my collection, like contraband. Only to have to wait for my fix, in my car or when no one was home.
You Know?
If someone likes Leon Redbone they have to be love able.

there is a difference between cheap and keeping to a budget!!! i've had guys make me dinner and watch a movie at home for that reason--and soooooooo much more private and personal
and i used to drive a lexus--my ex wanted me in it so he could say"look what i bought for my wife" and as soon as i could i did trade it in and bought a ford!!!!!
I share your thoughts about the life you once lived. I too had my own hell. Big house in a gated community. I hated everthing about it. It all seemed so plastic.
