and she came into this world,
with a look of love and adoration
you whispered in his ear,
"Hold her."
shaky beginnings and an unsteady
stride as she took her first steps, with
a look of love and adoration you
whispered in his ear,
"Steady her."
colliding with poles and trees, a bike's
new rider has begun her first lesson,
and with a look of love and adoration
you whispered in his ear,
"Show her."
when decisions had to be made and
the unknown future hung over her adolescent years, with a look of love and adoration, you whispered in his ear,
"Lead her."
falling down hard, angry tears from
careless mistakes, flailing last attempts,
but with a look of love and adoration you whispered in his ear,
"Teach her."
grown with a strong back and caring
heart, the distance between us increases
as I turn to go my way, with complete
love and adoration in your eyes you whisper in his ear,
"Now just watch her."

spadoman write: Three daughters graced our home. I love the song by Greg Brown entitled simply: "Daughters"
I write lyrics, and I know they aren't as good as Greg Brown, but they mean a lot to me. I wrote this when my oldest daughter, Maggie, left this world in 1991. She was in an auto accident. I sing this to a slow blues progression
When I was young I followed my dreams My friends thought I was crazy with some of my schemes
But you stood by me baby through good and through bad Now our world is changin' the end is so sad
Through 20 years of marriage the love did divide Twas a pearl named Maggie so sweet and sublime
She awakened our spirit and of others around Made her mark on the world her love will live on
Chorus: Maggie, please come back I knew you would, If you could (repeat)
Life is a card game The luck of the draw It was comin' up aces but fate had a flaw
there is no tomorrow there will be no dawn my world is ended Maggie is gone
Chorus
Thanks for letting me share that. I have never done so before. Now, my other two daughters are grown up and beautiful. The youngest is 28, the older is soon to be 30. I have 4 Grand Daughters and a Grandson

I Lost my Mom 30 years ago yesterday May 23,1975 I was only 16 and My Dad December 8,1982 and I was 23. I want to let you know that you sound like a very special person and I truly wish only the best for you. THE DEVA

you know the old saying--a daughter is a daughter forever--a son is only a son until he finds his wife
i can remember the 1st time i held my daughter and now how when she is hurting i wish i could fix it--can't but i know that she has the tools to handle most anything--even the things that can throw her for the temporary loop
I know I have done my best while raising my daughter, and with her now almost 19, I found this to be perfect timing.
She's about ready to go out on her own into the vast world, and I can only hope that I've done my best in raising her to be a strong, self-sufficient, considerate and well-adjusted young woman. Something we all want for our daughters.
