    Hey Guys....

Ya'll did a wonderful job expressing what "romance" means to you. I have to say I was impressed but not surprised. I appreciate the time it took, the memories it brought back. I laughed through some tears reading some of these but I think the most important lesson I'm taking away from this thread is that sometimes we don't know what we've got until it's gone. And you've taught me that sometimes even the slightest thing can mean something to someone, to never sell myself short and to always keep searching for the magic. Thank you guys, you're the best!

    My first live in lover.
I used to leave her little notes of appreciation. Tuck them in her purse, inbetween some plates in the cabinet, under the lid of a can of coffee ect.

Never expected to get one back.

I'd stopped and visited her at lunch, As I was leaving her work, I saw her car had a low tire.

I pulled up got out my Jack and opened the trunk of her car. When I lifted the spare tire out of her trunk. Underneath it.. I found a Thank you Card with my name on it in a large ziplock bag.

I want you to know how much I love you, not just now when you are once again coming to my rescue. But now when I am writeing this, now when I dont need rescued. I have no idea when youll find this, but I know it will be you who finds it, and I bet I didn't have to ask.
I Love you Now and Always.

Turned out her love for me didn't last forever after all.
But the moment when I found the note..
    That moment will.

    Sweet but Sad.

Nothing sad about it, you take the moments of Joy in life and treasure them.

Like a friend of mine says.
Live, Love, Learn.. Repeat from the beginning.

It's all part of the process of life. Not every relationship is going to work, the main thing is you learn from what did or did not work in each one of them and use what you learned to make the next relationship that much better for both of you.

Once many years ago, I was dating a Lady that was very special to me. One summer day we were both sitting beside one another
on a crowed lakeside beach sharing a blanket simply enjoying the day, and one anothers company. All around us their were children playing while parents looked on, in addition to many other folks all enjoying the day together splashing, laughing and generally having a good time. I looked over at her as she leaned over and kissed me. As we were embraced in that kiss, all around us fell silent. It was as though at that one moment in time during that kiss we were both transported away to somewhere quiet and wonderful. Afterwards we looked at one another in amazment having both experienced the very same sensation. Although her and I have long since parted ways, as long as I live I will never forget that kiss.

You know, to be honest I really did rack my brain on this one. I'm like most men, it doesn't take allot to please me. I enjoy walking through a meadow hidden in the mountains, filled with wild flowers, but it really wouldn't do anything for me to receive a bouquet of flowers. I guess a good dinner is always nice, but not necessary (most of my dinners are nothing more than munching on a sandwich while I read). So in thinking about it, I suppose if a Lady is comfortable around me enough to be herself, as appose to trying to be someone else she isn't, then I find that pretty romantic. It makes me feel more comfortable around her anyway.

My apologies for being so vague, I know you Ladies are looking for more information, but most guys I know really aren't into being on the "receiving" end of romance, as much as the "giving" end. Personally I really enjoy doing special things for a Lady just to let her know that my world revolves around her. Her smile is reward enough for me. That and a hug with a big wet smooch every now and then is always nice too...

I just love reading your posts!!!

Years ago I had a girlfriend try and poison me. I guess since I'm still hear to tell about it, I could consider it simply a "love tap."

My ex-wife was about as romantic as a potatoe peel, but two things I remember, once on Valentines Day, before we were married, I was feeding her chocolate covered strawberries, and she gave me a little heart shaped box. In it was the key to her apartment. Another Valentines day, after we were married, I was given a heart-shaped Etch-A-Sketch with our names in a heart she had drawn. Other than Valentines Day, she didnt care for romance...must of been something to do with being a CPA.

To me the most romantic thing I would have to say would the most simplest thing you could ever enjoy. To cuddle by a camp fire, wether by a lake, river or ocean, looking up into a sky watching the sun set and as it gets darker the starts come out to enjoy watching falling stars light up the sky feeling that god set off the fire works just for the 2 of you. Wishing the moment would never end. Knowing the one in your arms loves you with all her heart.
