asexual? means without sex or sex actions.... OH NO! Let's not talk about this... Anyone got another topic they want to discuss because that isn't a good thing! We might just as well talk about good verses evil..
A is A? I think the answer is pretty obvious. We're all looking for deep meaning with this statement when in reality, it's pretty straight forward.
Yes, A equals A. A doesn't equal B (or C). It equals A. In other words, "What you see is what you get". This is regardless of any "side issues" that may make you think that logic does not prevail. This opinion is open (and welcome) to debate.

Aristotle quotes:
There is no beginning of the infinite, for in that case it would have an end. But it is without beginning and indestructible, as being a sort of first principle; for it is necessary that whatever comes into existence should have an end, and there is a conclusion of all destruction. Wherefore as we say, there is no first principle of this [i.e. the infinite], but it itself seems to be the first principle of all other things and to surround all and to direct all, as they say who think that there are no other causes besides the infinite (such as mind, or friendship), but that it itself is divine; for it is immortal and indestructible, as Anaximandros and most of the physicists say

Perhaps what it means then that although something may look as if it changed it always remains the same. I do not realy know
I did a google search on it and got zip! Not a dang thing came up. If google doesn't know if "A is A" then how in the heck would I know????? But I do agree with bluehdmc..... who cares! The sun is shining.... let's ride!
LOL! Nothing like a bunch of wiseasses to turn a philosophical question into a big pile of CRAP!
And please, not one of you had better take this as anything more than a joke!
OK, so at first glance Descartes reads a little deep. But once you read those four rules a time or two more, you begin to realize that they are simple statements of logic, and you begin to wonder why anyone had to come up with the rules at all. But then you realize something... humans are emotional beings, and emotion is the ruler of all thought in it's infancy. All infants need guidance to attain maturity,
As for philological discussions with you eye_m_no_angel... if I ever got ya alone... it would only be on a VERY basic level... you know... gutteral growls that come with the simplist human response: reproduction...? Wish I knew German...
Aber Descarte war ehn Franzoss und konnte nicht die rechte Weise sehen, na? Er sollte ¿stlich des Rheins gelebt haben und dann wuerde die Volk ihn ernst nehmen.
(Eye m no angel makes a note to never get in a serious discussion with the smiling Cat about philosophy.)
(Eye m no angel makes a further note to not get in a serious discusion with anybody, about anything.)
I'm curious if anyone here knows what it means and where it came from and if they do, if they believe it.
