I may be just brave enough to take on a 3 wheeler on my own...any info would help, where to start building your own, where to buy...are there any down sides to a trike? Just getting started. Would still prefer to be a fender bunny, but getting tired of waiting for a ride!
The down side to a trike is that they are too tippy on the corners even with independent suspensions...I would get a good heavy touring bike and put on a side car instead...You can get it through Harley and they can paint the sidecar at the factory to match your bike....
I have a 07 Ultra Classic and LOVE it!!! If you do not get a Ultra make sure you have the Harley dealership add on a cruise control...That way you can ride more relaxed and you can give your throttle hand a breal which is REALLY nice on a long cruise!!!
An adjustable back rest is also REALLY nice for long rides...
If you get a Harley with the stereo you can rip or download music and the convert it to MP3 format and you can have 150-180 songs on one CD disk...Put it in and hit the random button and have good music ALL day with no repeats...
The new 96 C.I. engine is REALLY sweet and so is the new 6 speed transmission...I can cruise 65 and only be running at 2,000 RPM....VERY smooth...Losts of power...I can put on the cruise and run 100 miles down to my brothers place with no problems going over the hills...
Go to the Harley Dealership and check out a Classic or Ultra Classic...Then ask them for side car options...The Classic you have to pay for the cruise control...The Ulra comes with it and also with lights on the tour pak....IF you wear a helmet you can add a CB headset to your helmet...It comes with the Ultra Classic as standard equipment...
Good Luck in finding the ride for you...ALSO be sure to join the H.O.G. club...Find out when and where the club meets....Good people to ride with and also good road trips...Plus they can answer your questions that you might have about scooters...
