I remember back when I got my first tattoo, it raised alot of eyebrows and was frowned upon by many. I got them on my arms, because I was proud of the artwork done. It was in the early 80's and I was active duty in the Military. I heard so many times how unseemingly it was for a woman to sport tattoos on her arms the way I did. My response was, I wanted them to be seen, and anywhere else they would have to be covered up. Nowdays, tattoos on women are socially acceptable. In fact you see women with 1/2 sleeves and full sleeves all the time. My love of tattoos spilled over and influenced my eldest son, who is now a licensed tattoo artist. The benefit of that, is that I get great tattoos for my birthday, Christmas, and mothers day! Yes, I love it. I'm unconventional and a nontraditionalist. I sing my own song and play my own drum. I got tattoos on my arms back when women sporting tattoos openly was not considered cool!
