I did this ride with 6 people last year. We came from Kansas, Tennessee, and Virginia. This was truely a memorable ride. We got to the pentagon parking lot at about 10am. We packed a lunch and waited until noon when the parade started. We got out of the parking lot at 2pm. We rode to the wall after that. I wish I would be in the country to do this again.
Bear6664 write: that is great news Iowa . Safe riding man !!
Thanks Bear and I see we have another Fayboy in the house!LOL Don't think I am going to make the Wall ride this year. But I am making plans for next year!.
05/03/05 500 riders left Performance harley in syacuse NY to binghamton to esc*ort the wall back to the NYS fair grounds, 3000 met in binghamton to esc*ort it to the fair grounds...awsome site to see...it was great!!
This is my first year to ride to the wall. I belong to Task Force Omega and we will be leaving here in Russell Springs, Ky. on the 24th of may for Owingsville where there will be free camping. Hope to see some of youall there, then from there we go to LZ Rainelle W.V. God Bless our troops.... John
The Rolling Thunder Run for the Wall is Sunday, May 29th this year.
I'd post a link but it's against the TOS. You can googlesearch Rolling Thunder and it'll come up. There are also bike shows and lots of Biker events in around the DC Area that week as well.
I'm an RVN vet who's wanted to do this since they started it 22(?) years ago.
The eye is doing good. The weather is getting warm and the bike is ready to roll. I am out of here! Hope to see you all on the rode. Will post more when I get back. Ride safe.
Hey Lady thanks for the info. I know what ya mean tho, my uncle (the COP) stopped me for having a light out on a car I had borrowed & he asked for my info also. Of course he had to give me a hard time about the pic.
I wonder if the border patrol would accept my passport I havent used it since I came to live in the US in "64" When we moved here from Spain where I was born on the USAFB. I did have to go see the JUDGE before I could go to school here. I was born to US citizens on a USAFB but they wouldnt let me go to school till I was deemed a citizen of the USA & they made my brother 5 years older start in Kindergarden all over again, after having 3 years of formal schooling in Spain.
Questions to all you Vets...I get DOD reporrts cause of my work. In those reports I also recieve info on Identified MIA's, I know the media doesnt put out that info would ya'll like me to post it. I know I get very emotional over this subject as I have seen Vets do as well. I think it's good to know the MIA's truely have NOT BEEN FORGOTTEN. Please let me know, here or give me a yahell leather lady 63 no spaces.
Hiya Leather, Yes it is part of the new law that just passed for homeland security act. you dont need your passport to get into canada but you need it to get into the USA! I lived on the canadian border all my life and its going to stink..espcially when its a border gaurd who you went to highschool with asking for your passport...
Sorry a lil off the subject, Does anyone that goes between Canada & the US know anything on the boarder crossing changes?? Here in WA I heard something about having to have your passport to get back into your own country.
Hey bear6664
Thanks for the invite. I will certainly keep it in mine.I will be P.A. bound sometime in end of july and Harley I will have. You will certainly hear my ironhorse rolling into town. Thanks again
Prayers to ya Iowa, I have had some eye surgeries & I feel for ya.
Bear ya keep it going for those of us that cant make the run. I will be with ya in spirit!
Angel, I have to say I have thought alot about your post since I read it. I feel bad that most of us do not mention all the BRAVE WOMEN that have served our country & yes other countries Vets. A very good friend of mine is also a Vet that served on the Carl for many years & just retired to finish raising her 2 kids. I also have send male to a young lady that recently has returned from her first tour in Iraq. THANKS ALL YOU WOMEN VETS!!!
I never really thought a lot about Vets from other countries till recently...I think all of those that join their countries Military to help others achieve freedom is one of the most selfless acts one can do.
I'm disbled myself & not able to join, not to mention I dont take orders well, unless it's for Leather orders LOL. Most of my leather work proceeds goes to send carepackages to my HEROS in Afghanistan & Iraq. God Bless & keep ya all safe always!
Thanks to all of my HEROS of the Past & Present.
HUGZZZ Leather
Hi to all of you and especially the vets. I salute you and all the great things that you did for your country. My uncle, David Cooper who lost his life in Vietnam is on that wall and he was a marine who fought for his country. He was a great guy and very proud to be an American. However I am a Canadian and my family lives in Philadelphia . I certainly wish I had the time to ride with you this year but cannot. I will however make every effort next year to get to this ride and show my support.
Skip2004 write: Gday guys. I believe it is 31st may, your memorial Day. I am an Viet Vet (Australia)and am hoping to do the ride in 2006. My plan is to air frieght my bike to LA , then take about a month to ride across your country to Washington Dc to do the ride. Hope to make some friends before I arrive.
I am a disabled Vet. I am a Marine. My unit was in Beirut in 1982-1983. I make all the local rides to honor all the vets. I may be able to make the 06 ride. If the other eye is still working. I would love the company of any Vet that wants to ride for the wall. I go into surgery on the working eye again this Friday. Hope to post more next week.
Bear6664 write: JUNE 12TH If you are anywhere near Philadelphia you will want to catch this ride . They only shut down the Schykull Expressway for three things , The President , The Pope , and The ride to the wall . The wall is a vietnam vetrans memorial downtown , the whole parade route is closed off and you can see some beautifull parts of the city . I have heard tales of up to 8000 bikes in the parade . The route is about 22 miles one way . I never did it before but I hear it is great . Our chapter is trying to field 200 bikes so please come ride with us and have a great time and honor our countries POW and MIA's at the same time . If anyone wants more info or is going post up here . Thanks Bear
Sounds like a unique experience everyone should have the opportunity to have.
