It's winter... not too much to do in the bone-chiling cold, but... if you are go...
It's winter... not too much to do in the bone-chiling cold, but... if you are going to be cold you might as well enjoy it. We would go to dinner, somewhere down to earth, no pretenses (Hard Rock Cafe' would be a good choice), and then head to a hockey game.
Another fun first date would be a dinner (time to talk), then a comedy club, and then maybe dancing or going somewhere after to listen to some music and become a bit more acquainted.
During 'bike' season ~ If you are an early riser, a great date would be; head out toward the sun first thing in the am. Before the sun actually rises, head to the lake and watch the sunrise. We can bring a thermos with coffee and some yogurt, nuts and fruit for breakfast on the beach. After that, we can head off somewhere, spend the day snuggled up on the bike, enjoying the wind in our hair and the view; (off the highway of course). At the end of the day, pull over watch the sunset and head home. You know as well as I do that you will sleep like a baby that night! It's a long day, but... with the right person could be a great day.

Our first date will NOT... repeat, NOT include going to see a friggin' movie! That would be a couple hours we could never get back. How are we supposed to get to know each other sitting in total silence after being packed into a large, dark room with 200 other people, staring blankly straight-ahead and then emerge from the gloom waiting for our eyes to re-adjust to the light and wonder if this person next to me is actually the same person for whom I bought a ticket! No thank you.
I would much rather spend our first encounter outside in the sunshine, maybe the beach, where we have the opportunity to interact in each others' mannerisms, facial expressions and general body language. Unlike the time wasted at a movie, we can learn a lot about each other in a few, short hours by sharing that time to talk, laugh and how well (or not so well) the other throws a frisbee! :) A couple sub sandwiches, a large bag o' chips and a six pack (soda for me, thank you) and we have that whole 'fourth meal' thing covered. Who knows, our next date may include a 4-night cruise to the Bahamas (from Miami it's a no-brainer! :) ).

A quiet lunch or dinner so we can get better acquainted and plan our next date. Weather permitting a ride in the country or the shore with a barefoot walk on the beach. Too cold, build a snowman or make snow angels and then go for some hot chocolate or coffee.
