If my first date is with someone I don't know well, I suggest meeting in a public place for coffee or a glass of wine. Agreeing to meet somewhere (instead of him picking me up) seems to help men feel more comfortable about meeting a stranger, and if the date doesn't go well we can both leave and avoid awkwardness. That's another reason for keeping the first date short. If we both have a good time, we plan more activities together.

Going to a Cardinals game or concert or roller derby bout would be fun. Or just take off and go for a bike ride. I have my days when getting out of dodge sounds good to me.

Have a cup of coffee or drink or maybe a meal at a reaustrant by the water or just a nice quiet place by the water.

Just meeting in a very public place just to get to know each other and find out our interests like a baseball game or something like that. Then maybe if we feel comfortable moving forward to some dinner with nice of glass of wine like a Merlot.

There are so many different situations that people would consider a first date. My view of a first real date would be like this: After we have met and decided we would like to get to know each other better, A trip to the baseball park would be off the hook. We would leave mid morning and drive to Jack London Square. Have lunch and jump on the ferry. We would take the ferry to AT&T park, (you don't have to like the Giants, we can go to a game that the Giants play your team~some great razzing will happen along with a ton of smack. lol) Get a snack and a beer or two and watch the game. After the game depending on what time the game ends, we would take the ferry back, drive to sac and find a place that has a live band and enjoy the local scene. The date would end with you leaving me at my door step with a nice romantic kiss.

I would have fun just talking, getting to know each other and planning a date together to a winery or go to a place that we have not been to. An adventure that is new for both of us to share...
