I have seen so many public service spots on the tube about nearly every topic imaginable. Except, for motorcycles and auto drivers. I think this topic sorely needs attention. This may be along the lines of indoctrinating cage drivers about seeing bikes, getting their brains wired for recognition of, and interaction with bikes. That bikes have the right to their entire lane, not just the part they are in at a given moment I don't like being passed in my own lane by someone who thinks I'm no different than a bicycle. mostly, I think that a national program is needed to educate the cage driving public about bike awareness, to reduce the number of injuries, and fatalities due only to someone not seeing what is before their eyes. Also, perhaps it is time to press for legislation to add some toothy laws concerning penalties for drivers who injure or kill bikers. Crippled is crippled, dead is dead, its not just the body that suffers, its the quality of life of the victim, and their families. "I'm sorry, I just didnt see them" is an unacceptible flimsy excuse for poor judgement in driving. All of this needs consideration in ensuring a safer auto driving public. Any one have any thoughts or ideas about this ?? love to hear em', Longbeard

Hi Tech. world. Thanks for the info. I think the Wi. Abate may have a similar thing, I'll have to check. The local P.D. may sometimes cite drivers for lane encroachment, but they also cite for kicking doors in.

here in Iowa the state requires 4 hrs of motorcycle awareness in driver ed classes. They have also allowed ABATE to give the class called STR "share the road" when we give it it is a hard hitting no nonsense class that demands the attention of the students, we get pretty rough with the ones that are farting around. The teacher who is not allowed to cuss or get to rough just smiles as we pull them to the front and embasses the crap out of them for talking or not paying attention. gets the point engraved in there heads fast when they think they might have to come to the front or some leather wearing bearded guy gets in there face. good fun.

Needless to say I gave this total asshole a reaming out per his total stupidity and made note of his tag #. That will sure make your ying yang pucker up when you happen upon a jerk like that. I agree whole heartedly with you. I know as a cage driver, I wasn't really aware of bikes and what bike riders go through until I started being a passenger on one. I try to spread that awareness to my cage driver friends every chance I get, but it should be taught properly.
