Hey Suz. What about deodorant, powder and lotion. It gets really hot there. They sweat and from the sun, their skin gets real dry. Just a thought. My son will be shipping out in Sept. I would like to thank everyone for helping our troops.

Actually Pattie some do like the jerky pending on what kind you send. but dental floss is good lol I am finding out about silly string. and as for the deorant and stuff or YA>
We are also chatting on IM and it is really great. Makes it a lot faster to convey needs that way. He says what ever is sent over by anyone is a great treat. When they open their boxes they play a game of what the person was thinking about when they see what was sent. This man is incharge of a whole squad and told me that they love the jelly bellies or at least the girls do. They all shre and I think it is really cool. Since I posted this one I found out that he runs K races and bicycles and races on the camp when weather permits. I sent him a list and I have his clothes size and all already. We have already become friends. He is a great guy and hopefully soon we will be able to web cam to talk.

I was told by a soldier friend of mine that they need silly string (of all things). If they don't use it theirselves, they give it to those who do use it. They use it to find hidden fishing lines and things like that....that may trigger a bomb or the like....

+car, cycle, sports magazines for guys, fashion and movie mags for girls. On a serious note, I have heard silly string (yes!) comes in handy for detecting tripwires.

There is a woman close to where I lived that started an orginization called packages from home. They have a website you could check out that might give you some ideas.

I remember people making audio tapes, hellos, prayers, thanks, several people on one tape. If he and his friends have access to a cassette player..can you do that on cd's?? I have no idea. But I remember that the soldiers loved hearing the voices of people, strangers supporting them. Pictures too. Maybe of places in the states he's never seen or of his hometown. Things that give an idea of hope and home. Would he need batteries?? Chapstick, travel sized hand lotions. Even little samples of perfume, cologne. Little things to perk them up?

Socks, socks and more socks. I remember the Vietnam lads always wanted dry socks. Not sure that the lads in Iraq are in trenches as much as the Vietnam lads. Writing paper, gum, jerky, cigarettes.
