I saw something on the news tonight that says that fat people (especially belly fat) can double your risk for canser. But as a cancer survior I must say I was not over weight when I got cancer and actually not one of the folks taking chemo with me was over weight. So I personally do not think this is accurate. What do you feel about this study? I know there are plenty of us on here so please share your opion on this subject.

Re: WHAT? Does that mean that when I freeze my wine and have a slush I'll get cancer? Hey, but wine is good for the heart. Well I guess I'll have a good heart and cancer at the same time then. If you had to listen to all the things that THEY say we'd be dead already! Don't eat eggs, saccerin, butter. Do take aspirin, don't take aspirin. Every few years they change what you should and shouldn't do. I just drink water and wine (like in the bible) and oh yes bloody marys on the weekend. I eat my vegs like mom told me. I eat red meat like dad told me. He used to say eat the grizzle to put some fat on my bones. That's my problem right there! Too much grizzle! LOL HDsweetcheeks write: Doesnt everything cause cancer? atleast it seems it. Just heard if you freeze water bottles then drink them it causes cancer, and heating food in a microwave in a plastic container does too...If your gonna get it your gonna get it..if ya stop doing it all there will be nothing left to do. Just found out last night my niece's Boston Terrier has a rare form of cancer, no one is immune to it.

We are all cancer. Cancer is a mutant cell division. Well, we are all mutant cell divisions from the micro swamp monsters we all were. We just decided to try and evolve and look a little better. Just occassionally our complexities decided to get a bit more complex and accidently kill us. Do you know that according to Lyall Watson "Supernature" we are so complex the chances of our evolving from nothing you have better odds if you took 200,000 bricks, threw them in the air and they fell down and immediately formed a house. Can't expect us not to go wrong with those kind of odds. junie

Re:Yeap Tamra I too think we just have it I was told everyone has it some become active some not. See Doctors used to be grounded not grabbing at straws to explain. Cancer is in the genes, and no, not those jeans. It's there and it doesn't go away, it may skip a generation or so, but it's there. PMS, I agree to agree with ya', those doc's ppl's, Stink. Excess amounts of abdominal fat are defintely linked to diabetes, but this is the first i have heard about cancer. My dad has had and survived several kinds of cancer; at 6'1" and 185 pounds he is not heavy at all. My friend Cindy had cervical cancer, at 5" 4" and 102 pounds she was not heavy either.

They suggest it is an innate reaction in some people which could respond to certain stresses. It is a fact that in the west we have more cancer than poor countries. But we have more stress and pressure. Recent study shows lifestyle and stresses increase cancer. Its very indivivual. You could do everything right and still get it. May be hereditary factor as no cancer or heart problems in my family. junie

Fat cells have vacuoles where the body holds and stores toxins. So I can see this could be a factor. But like you, I know plenty of people who have cancer and are within their normal weight range. Here in western Michigan, we live in a hotbed of toxic dumps and waste areas. Cancer rates are more than double along the Huron and Lake Michigan lakeshores. Heck there are so many poisons in our environment that we are exposed to in our food, air, environment in general....so aren't we risk anyways?
