What are y'all doing for Halloween. DO you give out candy to the kids. This is the first time I have had youngin in the house for along time so I have to do the Halloween candy thing. Normally I am at a party somewhere. I do have fond memories of those neighbors who were gone for the night and would put out a big bowl of candy that said :Take One only" Like we could read!

Every year one of my kids has a party at my house. At least I know where they are and they are safe! I go with my son and daughter and about 20 of their friends and parents and we do the haunted walk/hayride thing. They do their own trick-or-treating, mom's not invited!

In Ireland we didn't have pumpkins and used to carve turnips and put a candle in it and go house to house for loose change. My mother never let us do that. She said it was like begging! We used to bob for apples and they'd have change in them, a shilling or a sixpence or a three pence. Then we'd get a barm brack (it was like raisin bread and it would have things hidden in it.) My mom always got the one that only had the ring in it. If you got a pea it meant that you'd be forever poor. My mom didn't get the one with multiple items as she didn't want us to be bloody well hexed. LOL

Re: I'm with you on this one. My 9yr old wants to be a dead cheerleader this year! She tried last year, but I won. Don't think I can win again this year! My 17yr never went thru the "dead" stage. What's up with kids these days? LOL CinnamonGirlOH write: My 10 yo old has told me that she wants to be a dead fairy...gee, could she make me think any harder on a costume? Last year she was a dead cheerleader, I'm sensing a trend here... I usually sew her costumes and I really miss the days of sewing the fun ones, like the time a few of her friends and their moms went with us and we all were characters from the Wizard of Oz. The year after that we were all different Disney princesses. Now we just get to be dead things...LOL

I luv Halloween I use to have a river of blood coming from my big tree, zombies with moving heads, a fogged graveyard and a floating skeleton in the tree. The Kids would freak out as they came up to the house they would walk over that bubble wrapp and it would pop. But of course to get that candy they made it some how. I was listed as a safe house with the city so they came in car loads. It was a lot of fun. We even had candy bars for the parents.
