We just had an impromptu poker run today. To me it seemed very short. How many miles do you figure go on your poker runs? Today we only went 85 miles. Longest one I went on was 525 miles. Most that we have are around 130 - 140 miles. Was just wondering about an average for you? Any day out riding is good.

I think it was short because of the big gathering they were going to have afterwords. It worked out perfect timing wise too. they had food almost ready when the last of the stragglers were rolling in, then raffled off stuff after.

I just consider them a donation to the cause and don't ever plan on winning one. We had one a few weeks ago for a young girl with Make a Wish foundation. She wanted to see a NASCAR race. They lined it up so her and her family had dinner with Kasey Kane the night before one of the races. What she did not know was they got her brother to come back from Iraq to be with them for the race. A very good cause to have a poker run.

I hate poker runs, I pay the fee..and then we take off and do our own ride and maybe end up where the ride ends up..I decided it was a waste of cash and now just do my own thing..but most that I have been on are 125-150 miles or so

Re: DynaThom write: I can't resist. Somehow this made me think of an old joke. Shortened as much as possible - two guys stop at their favorite watering hole after work and as they leave - several sheets to the wind - they observe two dogs copulating in the street. They make a bet to meet the next afternoon and the one whose wife took the most drinks to get her to perform the same act as the female dog would have to buy the drinks. 24 hours later, comparing notes, one guy says, "How many drinks did it take to get your wife to do that?" The other guys says, "Four. Well atually, 3 and a half." The first guy says, "Good Lord you're lucky!!! Took a whole fifth just to get mine out in the street."

Dyna, Dyna, Dyna???? What are we going to do with ya? (Good Joke)

Sometimes we have a game with some type of a point system, Some draw a card and they write it down on a sheet for us. Almost all have 5 stops, more when we used the point system. We generaly start around 9 am and finsh around 4:30. Was just wondering how long some of you have yours. I talked with a guest at our last week and they were worn out. They thought anything over 40 was a long ride. Nancy, might see you if your on the 3 Sisters run. Looking forward to meeting with many of the ES group.

None of ours are ever under 4-5 stops and 150-200 miles. We do the bean thing instead of pulling cards. You get a different type of bean at each stop and turn in all 5 at the last destinantion and draw your cards. That way riders are more likely to complete the run.

100-150 is a average for a poker run, cause ya need to get everyone back by a certain time to finalize the hands when planning I used to try to do 100-150 miles per run. How ya been Loren? Hope your enjoying ridding this summer, hope to see ya when ya come to Texas.
