Well, I did it. I have been talking about putting a jockey shift on the shovelhead for sometime. So, the past fews days the shovel was down for the change. I went up to the local chop shop and they welded me up a shifter which was hangin me up and how I was going to get around the coil and primary. I have been ridin all morning and I have only killed the bike 4 times. I still haven't the feel in my foot the let the clutch out. I posted a picture of the shift knob but I don't think BK will let it stay up for very long. Well, I'm going to eat lunch and head out. I'm making Red Beans and Rice if anyone wants to come over.

Spyder, I only mentioned hills because I have an old springer front brake. It works ok when going forward but not so when rolling back. I'm from Illinois so what do I know about hills. Last fall {after about 3 months of riding my Knuckle} I took a woman I know for a ride out to the Mississippi river. Now your talking hills. We were climbing up from the river and about half way up this hill we get stopped at a light. Needless to say I killed it. The girl I was with had legs from her neck all the way to the ground so she stood up or I would have dropped the bike and her. Couldn't keep the bike steady enough to kick it over so I had to walk it backwards all the way down the hill. Funny that girl wont answer my calls anymore. Wonder why.

No Sir, I only peek at naked men I am in relationships with. Some may laugh but it's true. Now, if just had on your Levi's, hell yeah. I am not dead, just respectful.

TTT, This stuff is alot of fun for me and then to have Knuck helping me out and doin some story telling, well, it doesn't get any better. As far as the naked lunch, closing your eyes and being the prefect lady is what I would expect from you, I think, wouldn't you even peck? LOL

Knuck, LOL, I did do a small hill. I have an old sidecar front end on the bike and I have a drum brake so it works. LOL, the service manual says I have 9 taxable horsepower so I don't think I could get the front end up. I'm sure the chicks would dig me if I could........LOL, ya right.

Not to get you nervous or anything but don't let this happen to you.LOL Have you had to stop going up hill yet? It's an experience. Your left foot on the clutch your right foot on the brake so you don't roll backwards and your balls in your throat because you know you'll screw up.LOL

I really love reading this tech stuff. I find it fascinating. I am glad you guys are doing it on the blog and not via email. I do learn a lot. I just wish I had my own bike so I could retain it! I am being serious here, not joking. It amazes me to "listen" to how much you guys know. OK, it's not as fascinating as jewelry and makeup but what is? Spyder, if we had all shown up while you were eating naked, well I would have covered my eyes and blindly tried to find my way to your bike so I could admire it in person. Gotta see that new cue ball. I have no clue what Fergie and Bat would be up to. Ok, I am lying, I can imagine any number of scenarios. Cali?? Gosh, she might help you with some sunscreen, being a nurse and all. I think she would be duty bound. Something in the hypocratic oath about naked men and sunscreen.

Knuck, LOL, I have done a couple of u turns and they went ok. I have not killed it for 2 days, not bad. My next challenge will be with a woman on the back. I hope she will have a sense of humor, LOL.

Spyder,I know what you mean. I still have problems if I think about it.LOL Just a couple of weeks ago I was at a local bar that has a special parking lot for bikes. On weekends they have a couple of kids directing traffic so they can get as many bikes in as possible. Any way this kid wants me to make a sharp U turn and then back into this slot. A real tight spin, if I was on another bike no sweat but I start envisioning popping the clutch and running this kid and a whole line of bikes over.LOL Took a minute and it wasn't pretty but I finally pulled it off. Keep practicing and it will become second nature. And remember Kick starts and hand shifts are what separates the men from the boys {or girls.}

Knuck, Thanks, I did that and it helped. What is taking a while is getting a good feel with my foot and the lever. With the hand clutch I could take off with very little gas and I need to give it more when I take off until I get the hang of it. If I don't think about it seems fine but as soon as think to much it gets all ass backwards, LOL. I do like it, it's alot fun, and it gives the bike a cool look. LOL, I bet no ones asks to ride the bike!

Spyder, If you still have problems after a couple of days try loosening the clutch springs a hair. Set them just tight enough so the clutch dosn't slip but looser than the manual. That way the clutch wont grab as you "toe" in the foot pedal. Worked for me.

CW, If you want I can draw it out what I did and then scan it and post a picture for you. What I ended up doing was simple, but I sure thought of some cool shit ways to do it. Let me know.
