Well I had another close one last night. These people that drive their cars at night when they can't see anyway should be a crime. IM on US 41 it's a 4 lane road. Here comes Q-tip cutting accross 2 lanes to reach the turn lane not even looking left. All he does is drive straight! Until I down shifted and ripped it then q-tip swerved to let me rip it by him. Almost a t-bone. They may not get their vision checked but they sure do wear a hearing aid. I will gladly pay the $15.00 loud pipe ticket any day. LOUD PIPES SAVE LIVES!

well..with the newer cars soundprofed as good as they are now and stereos blasting...and cell phones ..i dont see loud pipes working as good as they used to. dont really care for them myself....but thats just me...

Can't say I agree with the whole "loud pipes = enhanced safety" argument but if it makes you more comfortable while on the road to believe such then by all means you should run em loud.
Likeitalot you should increase the jet size of your carb due to the enhanced airflow from your exhaust. The carb is jetted from the factory to correspond to a certain amount of back pressure. You substantially increase the airflow by removing the restriction (baffles) and the "tuned" element of the carb / exhaust relationship flies out the window. I have no idea what the new Harley's use for carbueration so I can't make an informed recommendadtion as to what jet size you should try.

I have to agree that they help, and not only with cars... I dodged one deer last night only to see another wanting to follow the first one, but the pipes made him turn in a hurry. I just grazed the first ones tail and the only direction i could have swerved would have been in the direction of the other one. a real no win situation for sure.

I don't have loud pipes, but I do have this killer aftermarket horn that will make their ears bleed and as a bonus, it doesn't have to "ON" all the time!

Thankfully you were watching out for him HMRK! Thankfully you are safe! It is so true, you have to ride like everyone is out to get you. And I just can't understand why anyone wouldn't want to be heard. Like Charmz said, if they don't see you they sure as hell will hear you, or sometimes feel you, the vibration.

We have scooter boys ripping past the house. The noise is awful. But when I spoke to a Mum of one of the boys and she said "At least he can be heard and can't be missed I understand the upside that the annoying little sod can live another day.

Just got back from the beach road packed with tourists, people on rentals Harleys that shouldn't be on them, mopeds weaving in and out of traffic, those little moped looking little rental cars, that look like bugs coming down the road. I will pay the fine all day long, but if they can't see me on the road, they damn sure are going to hear me. Baffles be gone today!!!
