Hope you check out the newest life promotion of a certain bath soap and body lotion company, Dove. They are allowing real women to show their beauty and be proud of who they are. The latest promo is not allowed on the telly, What!?! Guess it offends the models for Victoria's Secret. Now I already have a list of the males on this site, whom I am pretty sure, will think these women are disgusting and should be shut away from the eyes of the world. They're the same fellas that have subscriptions to VS, just for their personal love affair. This is a site for women who are secure within themselves, or, who want to teach their daughters self confidence and respect for individual beauty. Hope you look.

I work at VS and I have yet to see anyone come in there that has the body shape or size of those models. I work on both sides, beauty and body, I ONLY see regular, normal people. So maybe VS should rethink their ads!!! Because that's not who's wearing their stuff!!!

It's a wonderful promo. Thanks for mentioning it. It is long overdue time that woman are finally shown for all their true beauty and splendor in real life, in the real world. I get weary of always seeing the plastic fantastic perfect modeling/fashion type women depicted in commercials and catalogs and advertising,etc...

I LOVE INDIVIDIALITY and UNIQUENESS. I like someone who sticks out as "different" I think every woman has the right to look her best the way she wants but I am a bit sick that every other woman looks like evry other babae walking down the street. Fellas may change girlfrends but hey just change for one that looks excatly the same. I like different shapes and sizes and personalities like people who are not affraid of being themselves. Bit sick of other people telling me who I should like. Image Nazi Party. We had an Dove campaign over here with diferent women. Looked good. Here is one from the last campaign. I don't know what others see, but I see a "real" person looking back at me instead of a Barbie doll. If Britney had this lady's attitude she may not be int he mess she is in now. JUnie

MS, hey g/f! Wonderful of you to post this info. I believe our assumptions about beauty are not true. We're told in one breath that the "natural" female body is the loveliest thing around but in the next breath we are ordered to starve ourselves, change our voices, paint our faces, shave our bodies, watch how we dress and mind our manners. Women are actually punished and insulted in this society for not buying all these expensive products and beauty technology... with fat jokes, ugly jokes, old lady jokes which leads to gradual erosion of self-worth and self-hatred. It's sad too because all the young children (I'm talking about 10 year old girls) are starving themselves already to be this perfect beauty, because if they don't have a perfect body (can't allow one ounce of fat on their bodies), if they don't have the makeup, the creams, shiney long hair, etc., etc., they will not be accepted or get the approval of society. Dove should be congratulated for helping our younger generations understand the meaning of real beauty! I agree with Cali that beauty comes in all shapes and sizes.

T- Yes it's a new one...this one features older women. I first saw the promo on TV a few weeks ago, and then saw the actual spot during trailers at a sneak preview of "Wild Hogs" last Sat. It's a little eye-opening when it first comes on, probably for the very reasons mshenderson mentions, i.e. we've all become conditioned to seeing svelte, young, beautiful women in ads nowdays and tend to forget that beauty comes in all sizes and ages and shapes.

They had that campaign this last year. Have they got a new one? And I can't understand why it wouldn't be run on tv.
