Hi Everyone I was just wondering if anyone can give me any advice because I am thinking of moving to Woodstock New Brunswick in Canada for a trucking job.
I am not sure what it is like out there?
I know that if i do take the job, then i will be trucking all over America, which means that my son and mum will be on there own in Canada while i am trucking round USA but i will be home at the weekends. They say that they can help me to move over there and get a house for less then ?90,000 for a new 3 bed house on a full acre of land.
I was just wondering if anyone as already done this and what happen did it work out for you? Or if you live in Canada maybe you can tell me if i should move to Canada? and what there is there for my son because he dose IT computers and a lot of other things in computing as well, if there is anything out there for him?
There are a lot more things i would like to find out before moving to Canada. If any one is from Canada or the area that i might be moving to can get in touch with me to help me make up my mind i would really be grateful.
Thank you for reading this
Love Lynne xx

Lynne - I am probably responding after the horse has fled the barn but figured I offer my two cents nonetheless. I was an operations / reliability consultant for a company in Burlington which is near New Brunswick for a couple of years. Though I worked from a home based office I traveled to Burlington about once every 6 weeks or so. I would say your choice is comparable to choosing between living in Washington State and living in Buffalo, New York. The climate will be somewhat milder in BC as the winters tend to be brutal in NB. Also, homes are less expensive there because 1) the terrain is flatter and 2) NB is very industrialized so they have to accomodate every economic strata while BC caters more to the artsy / elitist types (please forgive the generalizations). In good economic times I would say there is plenty of IT related work for your son as there is a great deal of software development being performed in and around Toronto while out in NB there are tons of manufacturers (Sterling Steel, DOFASCO, Ford Canada, GM Canada, etc.) but right now I have no idea what jobs are available relative to your son's experience, skill level and education. Whatever choice you make / made I wish you every success.

Hey Lynne - you are welcome - thank you for the info about the Merc!! You may already know this but, regarding the Cost of Living in Canada compared with the U.S. . . . One thing about Canada and U.S. currency - their values fluctuate, and I have no idea about the exchange rate at this time. A few years ago I was into buying old cars - and I learned that you had to make sure whether the price of something was given in US or Canadian dollars. At that time a 40 Ford listed for $9,000 US might be a good deal - the same car for $9,000 Canadian was probably¿an EXCELLENT deal.

Well, I live in Canada but a long way from New Brunswick...I am in British Columbia. (it's a very big country! :) )
I have been to NB though, and it's beautiful!
What information are you looking for specifically?
