Santa Cruz HD closed their doors after 80 years last Wednesday 11/12/08 Dammit..another one bites the dust. Some old friends and some new ones from the HOG chapter rode down this last weekend and we met at The Pozo Saloon for lunch and a few beers...Bittersweet for sure. I've been to many great rides with those guys both that they put on and that we rode out to and while I'll still see some of them...it's sad that the chapter and the dealership have both fallen because of the mistakes of others.

Quoting justyforya:

Perhaps if HD made an 'affordable' bike that is not outclassed in every aspect buy a jap or brit bike more people would buy HD.

I don't believe the market to buy an America bike in-order to join an Outlaw MC will sustain HD's future.. but of course, I could be wrong. Can you just imagine your local HA's running down the road on a jap bike? That would be a sight.

I'm sorry roadglide02, but the days of buying American crap because its American is over, and yeah, you can blame your anti-tariff GOP for that gift.

well figures you would say this. i will say this.....no other bike can copy what a harley is. if harley stoped making bikes, i would still buy a harley, just a used one. Im union and always will be, and harleys are union built. every car i own is union built as well, and none have metric bolts.be it car or bike, none sound or feel as good as american, even if its only on the inside.

this is to you justy....if your not part of the cure, your part of the problem.

Quoting easyrider96:

an hd dealership went under? hard to believe, even in these times.

Their satellite store in Watsonville closed earlier this year. Unfortunately, I'm sure we'll see a few more before it's all over....Times are hard and it didn't help that Corp made them all get bigger stores by the freeway and force them to carry so much inventory they'll never get rid of.
