Happened before socialism or anything else. People persuaded to put their money into thin air and an ever inflating lying baloon until it went POP. People persuaded to spend much more than they earn and borrow much more than they can afford. Everything over stretch, then like a baloon it all goes POP! Exact same lead-up to every other rescession or fall of the Roman Empire, Napoleon, British Empire financial business empire. Over stretched empire, over stretched and reducing resources, inner destabilising conflict at central govt/dynastic family and a few expensive wars that no one can afford usually causes everything to go POP. All the other cuontries are in the same position. Except China, Russia and Arab states are coming up as they buy off the dross and are not in so much trouble as they did not run their economy on credit. Also Arab/Muslim banks not in trouble and not collapsed as do not practise usury and do not put their money in non productive industries such as insurance and complicated investment pyramides. Not socialism or anything else. Just normal economic implosion and collapse of established powers which has happened throughout history. Unfortunately most of the west is now owned and in debt up to our eyes for the next few centuries becuase of our own mistakes and problems. The credit crunch did not happen in some socialist country it happened in middle America and greedy banks who wanted to persuade peasants they could buy a manor. But it has caused the rest of the world to collapse. Do what you can. Moaning and groaning about it wont change it. But like the war and other crisis asense of humour and a sense of the ridiculous helped get us through it. Where are the Buster Keatons adn Charlie Chaplins and Cary Grants these days?
