When I first met my best friend of 18 years, he was decked out in dirty black leathers and I wouldn't have given you 2 cents for him. Then I got to know him and discovered what a really great person he was. Rodman

I have to wonder who the sheep is. Is it the one who holds to the old ways, will not accept change, and will not accept that the world has changed around them. Or is it the one who accepts and embraces change in himself and the world around him

I don't really know what the image thing is about. All I know is I keep my promises and I made one to my older sister who was an EMT I will always wear my leathers. She wanted me to as being an EMT seen were these have saved a persons life more than once by holding them together or road burns prevented. What I wear underneath is what I want to wear my Image of me

K6, I dont understand what you are trying to say here? Are you saying we are all NOT "bikers" because we believe you dont have to have the "biker look" or dress a certain way..or are you saying that its a lifestyle, and as long as you ride and have that love of it in your blood you are a biker. You confused me, its ok though most people do : )

it is easier to talk about being a biker 24-7 than do it, and be successful in life. A lot of people may use the word yuppie, and I have been called a pretty boy too. This does not bother me. I know that without my job I would not have my bikes. I would not be able to care for my daughter, and I would not have a nice home. Without my education and my job I would probably be one of the American masses drownding in debt. I conciously chose to be the black sheep of my family, and chose bikes because I loved riding. This is my choice to live with, and I am comfortable with it. I never really cared that the kid did not think I was a biker. It made me mad that he called a friend and I liers. Had he not willingly appologised for this, he would have discussed the matter with me until he did.

The harley t-shirt thing became a collection thing then I gained weight and for a few years they did not make a ladies shirt to fit me, I was just too big so now that I'm on the decline I buy a few but I collect magnets from all the Harley shops I go to. Really with a bad back and my age comfort is most important. And I think button down shirt is fine kinda sexy at times.

I do not wear anything that has a harley logo on it. I honestly feel that the motor company sold out years ago when they released their new line of clothes and advertised them using the slogan "The motorcycle is optional".

I wear what I want, I was so happy when Harley shirts came in something else other than black, grey or white. I like bright colors. I like maneater, don't wear shorts, unless I wear chaps then take em off when I get there. Just consider the source.

Don't take it personal. Everybody stereotypes others. You buy new leathers your a RUB Wear a suit to court your a yuppie. Grab some chickie's a$$ your a pervert. There is the stereo typical "biker" look put out by the media for the last 40 or 50 years That is why Harley dealerships have turned into boutiques where they sell everything except parts and bikes. So they can cash in on everything Harley. You wont change it just ignore

Well, one point you have to remember is KID. Though certainly that stereotype is not limited to kids. It is limited to the ignorant and I am not saying that in a mean way. I say it in the true meaning of the word, one who has not been taught or exposed to something. They have not learned. Heretic, did the paint come off your vette???

there is no typical image when it comes to a dress code when riding, but most people looking from the outside in only see the chaps and the black, they are not aware that people who ride are your everyday people with a certain passion. sometimes they need to be educated on what it means to ride and not what you wear.

I think people who dont ride have this image of the bad arse biker, wearing leathers, unshaven, long hair etc..and back years and years ago thats what it was, the days when you had to be in a club. Now a days all kinds of people ride, blue collar, professional, woman, jocks. But I think people that have never ridden will never get that image out of their head when they hear the term "biker". I can walk the walk, and at times I do, but there are times when no one would suspect that Im into bikes let alone ride my own. I dont care what people think, Im me, you dont like it move to the other side of the bar. Its not important to me that I look like a biker, whats important to me is that I do ride and its my life, not a life or lifestyle that I have to conform to. : )
