Real me.... Posted on Wed, May 02, 2007 09:35
In your life, you meet people. Some you never think about again. Some, you wonder what happened to them. There are some that you wonder if they ever think about you.And then there are some you wish you never had to think about again. But You Do...Even in my blogworld, you all see what I allow you to see. I had no intentions of coming here to make friends but I have . I came to get the stuff out of my head and to write a daily journal. "Friends" has been one of those surprising yet wonderful parallel roads that meander through the countryside meeting up occasionally with the highway. Sometimes I pour my heart out in my writings; sometimes I get quirky and funny. You all can peek at the rollercoaster ride of my private thoughts. However, you do know what I look like. If I passed you on the street, alot of you would not recognize me; you may think something is familiar, but chances are you would not know it was I.. I keep the boundaries complicatedly simple...Have a awesome day...Harley

Persevere .... Posted on Wed, May 02, 2007 09:09
People are often unreasonable, illogical and self-centered; FORGIVE THEM ANYWAY. If you are kind, people may accuse you of having ulterior motives and being selfish; BE KIND ANYWAY. If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies; SUCCEED ANYWAY. If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you; BE HONEST AND FRANK ANYWAY. What you spent years building, someone could destroy overnight; BUILD ANYWAY. If you find serentiy and happiness, people may be jealous; BE HAPPY ANYWAY. The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow; DO GOOD ANYWAY. Give the world the best you have, it may never be enough; GIVE THE WORLD THE BEST YOU GOT ANYWAY. Don't you see, in the final analysis, it is between you and your god; IT WAS NEVER BETWEEN YOU AND OTHERS ANYWAY! Thank you, My b.k friends. Gotta keep it on the righteous path and remain above the drama. Sometimes I just get very disappointed in people, the human race. They can be so superficial, so ungenuine. It is during these times I remember why I prefer being a loner, but I will persevere, pick myself up from the bootstraps and go on...hugs Harley

My Mouth .... Posted on Wed, May 02, 2007 07:57
There are thousands of construction companies out there, right? How do you find one that installs speed bumps? I have a place that desparately needs a speed bump....somewhere between my brain and my mouth. I had this meeting today where my mouth opened and these words came out. They were never thought about, consequences were never considered, options were never weighed....Why do I do that? What I said was totally outside the scope of this topic, but it highlights a problem I have had my entire life. I figure if I could just put a speed bump in (or at the very least some of those rumble strip thingies that scare you to death when you hear that noise they make) it would create that fraction of a second delay to allow your brain to fire a signal to your stupid ass lips to stay shut! Have you ever talked to someone who thinks about what they say before responding to any question? Doesn't it annoy you? That long pause where you see their brain actually working? How do they train their mouth so well? Are there people you can hire that will help you do the training? Is there some sort of Hooked-On-Phonics type program that guarantees in 30 days or less you will have a mouth that will spit out words that have been properly considered and ensure the expected response? If not, someone could make a cubic shitload of money if they put THAT on the market. I, for one, would buy the premium version and willingly give 'em my credit card number for the automatic updates! Until then, I guess I'm stuck promising myself to think before I speak. A speed bump would be much easier.....Harley

My Arms are Tired ... Posted on Wed, May 02, 2007 07:51
Yesterday was a busy day, that's for sure. I don't remember any extra physical activity. Nor do I recall any reason for what happened to have happened. The only thing I can think of is that when I'm overly tired, I tend to sleep in funny positions. I don't mean like standing on my head or in "World Class Twister Spinoff" positions; I just mean odd ways of lying in bed that may or may not be good for my body and me. I was DEFINITELY overtired when I went to bed last night. So this must have been what happened. I had strategically placed my alarm clock across the room so that I would have to actually get up out of bed to shut it off. When it went off, I tried to roll over. I couldn't. I tried again. I still couldn't. In my sleepy-headedness, I felt like I was tied to the bed. For some strange reason, I just couldn't get my arm to move so I could push myself over. As consciousness invaded my senses, I began to realize my left arm was not only asleep, it was DEAD TO THE WORLD! So dead I had to roll over forcibly just to get up. I was actually afraid I might dislocate it or worse as I did so. Then, once I rolled over, I had to pick it up with my other arm as I walked over to shut off the alarm. I have never understood why this happens. What could my left arm possibly have done that it was so much more tired than the rest of my body? I'm sure none of my other extremities really felt like waking up right then either, but they did. Left arm?....Nope....Nothing....Just kept on snoozing away....Uncaring and Selfish.... The other body parts had to take up the slack. It knew the right arm would never let it be late for work so it just slept peacefully, waiting for someone else to handle its responsibilities. But started to wake up. I absolutely hate that feeling! Those tingles and shivers that make every nerve ending feel like it's on fire. Aren't you glad your whole body doesn't wake up that way? Can you imagine how you would feel every morning? You would hear the alarm go off and you would be afraid, very afraid. You would know those tingles would start. Maybe that's a way for the rest of the body to punish the offending limb. "OK, sleepy elbow, you may have gotten a little extra sleep, but TAKE THIS!" I have started a system to track the times this happens. As of this morning, my left arm has one demerit. I am still thinking about what the punishment should be once a body part gets too many demerits, but I'm sure that the one with the most will not be looked upon favorably the next time I get charged an "arm and a leg" for something.

Woman of Strength ... Posted on Wed, May 02, 2007 07:31
A strong woman works out everyday to keep her body in shape... But a woman of strength builds relationships to keep her soul in shape. A strong woman isn't afraid of anything... But a woman of strength shows courage in the midst of fear. A strong woman won't let anyone get the better of her... But a woman of strength gives the best of herself to everyone. A strong woman makes mistakes and avoids the same in the future... But a woman of strength realizes life's mistakes can also be unexpected blessings. A strong woman wears a look of confidence on her face... But a woman of strength wears grace. A strong woman has faith that she is strong enough for the journey... But a woman of strength has faith that it is in the journey that she will become strong. As a young woman, I was very strong and ruthless in my interactions with others. I had built walls so high and deep that no one could enter into my space. I was driven, competitive and a perfectionist. Above all, I was hardest and most unforgiving with myself. As the years go by and the more time I spend alone, I mellow. I've realized that I was simply driving myself into an early grave. I have learned to forgive myself and in turn forgive others. I am confident that if needed, I can be strong. But courage and grace now drive me on a daily basis. My walls are still there, but they are not as high nor as deep. From time to time I allow others to get close as the actual journey becomes more and more important to me.
Thinking Outside the Box .... Posted on Wed, May 02, 2007 07:22
Couldn't sleep last nite and already have had way too much lemonaide. Thank you Erica for your endless ramblings on the subject of the "box". The more I try to think "outside the box", the less I actually understand what it means. If we're supposed to think outside the box to make things happen, then I must assume most people think "inside" the box. So now I have a few questions: Where is this "box"? Exactly how did we all get inside it? It must be a really BIG box, and what's so wrong about doing our thinking while we are in it? Could there be a bunch of boxes and I misunderstood? That would make much more sense. Since most offices are filled with cubi's, would this be the box you're talking about? How much trouble would a person get in if he were never in his cubi and when the boss asked why, he answered "I have to think outside my box"? When did we all start thinking inside the box? At some point, someone had to tell us to get in that box to begin with. I should find that guy and ask him why he did that. All these years I've been thinking away and now all of a's wrong! Shouldn't one or two people stay "in" the box....just in case? Or better yet, why don't we count off by two's. All the odd numbers think outside the box, the evens will continue to think the old-fashioned way. Then when they decide which way is actually better, half of us will have been right all along. Now you know how people are...some would try to think "ON" the box so they could say they were in the right group the whole time. Who knows what would happen if we thought "ON" the box. Who decided on a box in the first place? Maybe we should get rid of the box. Maybe we should try thinking in a Mason Jar. If that doesn't work, then we could try thinking outside of that. Last thing here.....Is it OK to do other things in the box? I do many things that do not require thought. Can I be in the box for those things, or is that wrong, too?ok I am done...I need to go to bed...

CHOICES..... Posted on Wed, May 02, 2007 07:14
It is CHOICE not Chance that Determines Your DESTINY (Jean Nidetch) I choose to make the most of every second of every day. I choose to be happy regardless of the circumstances. I choose to go the extra mile to brighten the day of those around me. I choose to see only the good in things and people, and avoid dwelling on the negatives. I choose to find solutions -- not problems! I choose to live free, so no cage could or ever will hold me. I choose to fight for what's right -- no matter the cost. I choose to expect victory and success -- failure is not an option. I choose to see the glass half full, because it is!! I choose to give back and be grateful for all of my blessings. I choose to fight the right fight -- and win. I choose to not let negative ideas or opinions affect MY choices. I choose to be who I am. I choose these things because I am lucky enough to be able to choose, grateful enough to use the opportunity, and wise enough to know the difference between choosing and letting the world choose for me. What choices have you made?

GOOD FRIENDS... Posted on Mon, Apr 30, 2007 12:38
In kindergarten, a good friend was the one who let you have the red crayon, when all that was left was the ugly brown one. In first grade a good friend was the person who went to the bathroom with you and held your hand as you walked through the scary halls. In second grade a good friend was the person who helped you stand up to the class bully. In third grade a good friend was the person who shared their lunch with you when you left yours on the bus. In fourth grade a good friend was the person who was willing to switch square dancing partners in gym so you wouldn't have to "do-si-do" with that stinky kid who liked you. In fifth grade a good friend was the person who saved a seat for you at the back of the bus. In sixth grade a good friend was the person who went up to your new crush and asked them to dance with you, so that if they said "no" you wouldn't feel so embarrassed. In seventh grade a good friend was the person who let you copy the social studies homework from the night before that you had forgotten about. In eighth grade a good friend was the person who helped you pack up your stuffed animals and baseball cards so that your room would be a "high schooler's room" and didn't laugh at you when you finished and burst into tears. In ninth grade a good friend was the person who went with you to that "cool" party being thrown by a senior so you wouldn't be the only freshman there. In tenth grade a good friend was the person who changed his schedule just so you would have someone to sit next to at lunch. In eleventh grade a good friend was the person who gave you rides in their new car, convinced your parents you shouldn't be grounded, consoled you when you broke up with your steady, and found you a date to the prom. In twelfth grade a good friend was the person who helped you pick out a college, assured you that you would get into that college, helped you deal with your parents who were having a hard time adjusting to the idea of letting you go. At graduation a good friend was the person who was crying on the inside but managed the biggest smile one could give as they congratulated you. After you graduated, a good friend was the person who helped you clean up the bottles from that party helped you sneak out of the house when you couldn't deal with your parents assured you about your relationship with your steady, told you that you could make it through anything helped you pack up for college and silently hugged you as you looked through blurry eyes at 18 years of memories you were leaving behind and finally on those last few days of childhood, went out of their way to come over and send you off with a hug, a lot of memories, reassurance that you would make it in college as well as you had these past 18 years, and most of all, most importantly to send you off to college knowing you were loved....HAPPY MONDAY

I'm a Dog....What are YOU? Posted on Thu, Apr 26, 2007 12:35
OCTOBER 23...I AM A Turtle.... I don't know where people come up with these things, but I thought it was cool. Just look for your birthday, see what animal you are and then read the description of that animal. I'm a dog, and my description was pretty accurate...ok, so I'm bored and tired of being sick. Have fun!!! January 01 - 09 ~ Dog January 10 - 24 ~ Mouse January 25 - 31 ~ Lion February 01 - 05 ~ Cat February 06 - 14 ~ Dove February 15 - 21 ~ Turtle February 22 - 28 ~ Panther March 01 - 12 ~ Monkey March 13 - 15 ~ Lion March 16 - 23 ~ Mouse March 24 - 31 ~ Cat April 01 - 03 ~ Dog April 04 - 14 ~ Panther April 15 - 26 ~ Mouse April 27 - 30 ~ Turtle May 01 - 13 ~ Monkey May 14 - 21 ~ Dove May 22 - 31 ~ Lion June 01 - 03 ~ Mouse June 04 - 14 ~ Turtle June 15 - 20 ~ Dog June 21 - 24 ~ Monkey June 25 - 30 ~ Cat July 01 - 09 ~ Mouse July 10 - 15 ~ Dog July 16 - 26 ~ Dove July 27 - 31 ~ Cat August 01 - 15 ~ Monkey August 16 - 25 ~ Mouse August 26 - 31 ~ Turtle September 01 - 14 ~ Dove September 15 - 27 ~ Cat September 28 - 30 ~ Dog October 01 - 15 ~ Monkey October 16 - 27 ~ Turtle October 28 - 31 ~ Panther November 01 - 16 ~ Lion November 17 - 30 ~ Cat December 01 - 16 ~ Dog December 17 - 25 ~ Monkey December 26 - 31 ~ Dove If you are a Dog : A very loyal and sweet person. Your loyalty can never be doubted. You are quite honest and sincere when it comes to your attitude towards working. You are a very simple person, indeed. Absolutely hassle free, humble and down-to-earth! ! That explains the reason why your friends cling onto you! You have a good taste for clothes. If your wardrobe is not updated with what is trendy, you sure are depressed. Popular and easy-going. You havea little group of dignified friends, all of them being quality-personified . If you are a Mouse : Always up to some sort of a mischief! The mischievous gleam in your eyes is what makes you so cute and attractive to everyone. You are an extremely fun-to-be-with kind of person. No wonder people seek for your company and look forward to include you for all get-together' s. However, you are sensitive which is a draw back. People need to select their words while talking to you. If someone tries to fiddle around and play with words while dealing with you, it is enough to invite your wrath. God bless the person then!If you are a Lion : Quite contradictory to your name, you are a peace loving person. You best try to avoid a situation wherein you are required to fight. An outdoor person, you dislike sitting at one place for a long duration. You are a born leader, and have it in you how to tactfully derive work from people. You love being loved, and when you receive your share of limelight fromsomeone, you are all theirs!!!! Well, well... Hence some people could eventake an advantage, flatter you to the maximum and get their work done. So becareful.....If you are a Cat : An extremely lovable, adorable person, sometimes shy, with a passion for quick wit. At times, you prefer quietness. You loveexploring various things and going into depth of each thing. Under normal circumstances you're cool but when given a reason to, you are like a volcano waiting to erupt. You're a fashion bird. People look forward to you as an iconassociated with fashion. Basically, you mingle along freely but don't like talkingmuch to strangers. People feel very easy in your company. You observe care in choosing your friends. If you are a Turtle : You are near to perfect and nice at heart. The examples of your kindness are always circulated in groups of people. You, too, lovepeace. You wouldn't like to retaliate even to a person who is in the wrong. You are loved due to this. You do not wish to talk behind one's back. People love the way you always treat them. You can give, give and give love, and thebest part is that you do not expect it back in return. You are generous enough. Seeing things in a practical light is what remains the best trait of youguys. If you are a Dove : You symbolize a very happy-go-lucky approach in life.Whatever the surroundings may be, grim or cheerful, you remain unaffected. Infact, you spread cheer wherever you go. You are the leader of your group of friends and good at consoling people in their times of need. You dislike hypocrisy and tend to shirk away from hypocrites. They can never be in your good books, no matter what. You are very methodical and organized in your work. No amount of mess, hence, can ever encompass you. Beware, it is easy for you to fall in love.... If you are a Panther : You are mysterious. You are someone who can handle pressure with ease, and can handle any atmosphere without going berserk. You can be mean at times, and love to gossip with your selected group. Very primand proper. You like all situations and things to be in the way you desire, which, sometimes is not possible. As a result, you may lose out in some relationships. But otherwise, you love to help people out from difficult and tight spots when they really need you. If you are a Monkey : Very impatient and hyper!!! You want things to bedone as quick as possible. At heart, you are quite simple and love if you arethe center of attraction. That way, you people are unique. You would like to keep yourself safe from all the angles. Shall your name be dragged or featured in any sort of a controversy, you then go all panicky. Therefore, you take your precautions from the very beginning. When you fore see anything wrong, your sixth sense is what saves you from falling in traps. Quite a money minded bunch you people are!!

Why? Posted on Thu, Apr 26, 2007 11:30
OMG>>>frighteningly enough, I do more than a few of these. How's that for true confessions? Why, Why, Why do we press harder on a remote control when we know the batteries are going dead? Why do banks charge a fee on "insufficient funds" when they know there is not enough money? Why does someone believe you when you say there are four billion stars, but check when you say the paint is wet? Why do they use sterilized needles for death by lethal injection? Why doesn't Tarzan have a beard? Why does Superman stop bullets with his chest, but ducks when you throw a revolver at him? Why do Kamikaze pilots wear helmets? Whose idea was it to put an "S" in the word "lisp"? If people evolved from apes, why are there still apes? Why is it that no matter what color bubble bath you use the bubbles are always white? Is there ever a day that mattresses are not on sale? Why do people constantly return to the refrigerator with hopes that something new to eat will have materialized? Why do people keep running over a string a dozen times with their vacuum cleaner, then reach down, pick it up, examine it, then put it down to give the vacuum one more chance? Why is it that no plastic bag will open from the end on your first try? How do those dead bugs get into those enclosed light fixtures? When we are in the supermarket and someone rams our ankle with a shopping cart then apologizes for doing so, why do we say, "It's all right?" Well, it isn't all right, so why don't we say, "That hurt, you stupid idiot?" Why is it that whenever you attempt to catch something that's falling off the table you always manage to knock something else over? In winter why do we try to keep the house as warm as it was in summer when we complained about the heat? How come you never hear father-in-law jokes? The statistics on sanity are that one out of every four persons is suffering from some sort of mental illness. Think of your three best friends -- if they're okay, then it's you....woo hoo please add on for us to see..kisses Harley

Need a Chuckle and Have a Few Minutes to Waste? Posted on Thu, Apr 26, 2007 11:23
I am Zippy Chickenhump...come on it's funny, right? The following is excerpted from a children's book, Captain Underpants And the Perilous Plot Professor Poopypants, by Dave Pilkey, in which the evil Professor forces everyone to assume new names... So:- 1. Use the third letter of your first name to determine your New first name: A = snickle B = doombah C = goober D = cheesey E = crusty F = greasy G = dumbo H = farcus I = Dorky J = doofus K = funky L = boobie M = sleezy N = Sloopy O = fluffy P = stinky Q = slimy R = dorfus S = snooty T = tootsie U = dipsy V = sneezy W = liver X = skippy Y = dinky Z = zippy 2. Use the second letter of your last name to determine the first half of your new last name: A = dippin B = feather C = batty D = burger E = chicken F = barffy G = lizard H = waffle I = farkle J = monkey K = flippin L = fricken M = bubble N = rhino O = potty P = hamster Q = buckle R = gizzard S = lickin T = snickle U = chuckle V = pickle W = Hubble X = dingle Y = gorilla Z = girdle 3. Use the third letter of your last name to determine the second half of your new last name: A = butt B = boob C = face D = nose E = hump F = breath G = pants H = shorts I = lips J = honker K = head L = tush M = chunks N = dunkin O = brains P = biscuits Q = toes R = doodle S = fanny T = sniffer U = sprinkles V = frack W = squirt X = humperdinck Y = hiney Z = juice Thus, for example, George W. Bush's new name is: Fluffy Chucklefanny. And remember that children laugh an average of 146 times a day; adults laugh an average of 4 times a day. Put more laughter in your day...Have a awesome day..hugs Harely
