Spearfish Canyon Lodge is on the web FTF. In Deadwood they have that Americana Casino I think it is called.

I've only been one time (2005) and I spent enough money to run a South American Government for a couple of years . . . which I can never do again. I will defer to my Friend's extended experience and vote for CUSTER. But will somebody go to Deadwood with me and have a beer in #10 Saloon?

There seems to be lots of talk about Deadwood. Well, that town is crowded starting the week before and staying that way for several days after the rally shuts down. If you want to have a nice get together, I would suggest Custer. It is a small rally in it's own right. The back way, through Newcastle, WY is an absolute joy of a ride. Custer is around the bend from Hot Springs and the Mammoth Site, a must see. Crazy Horse is down the road and you can hit Rushmore along the way also. Custer is my favorite place to hang and there is good food and beverages (I don't drink and ride), but what do I know, I'm just a bike riding hippie. If you don't want to head into the Hills, there is the Stone House, between Belle Fouche and Alladin. Lots of space for a crowd, not sure if there is grub, though. Also, Belle has some fine and friendly spots. There is also the Drag Pipe Saloon, not crowded, food, drink and live music, which, as you know, is better than dead music, even some vendors. I believe they have a website, or I can post more info, maybe the powers that be will allow it. My opinion is to stay away from the crowded spots, Deadwood, downtown Sturgis any of the campgrounds, as they require visitors to buy wristbands for that day and many places are pricey.

Hello all, Have not been on in a while, but been up to Sturgis a couple of times and stayed in the Hog Heaven Campground twice. Price is right and they shut the band down at midnight...to get the required rest for the next day's ride. But Buffalo Chip and Glencoe are not bad either. Deadwood and Spearfish are good places to go, from the campground (HH), make a left and you are on your way. Have we got dates yet for when everyone will be on the ground? Also any upcoming rides originating out of Dallas. Take care and thanks. ES was a great time.

Hey - I hope we can make this come together - be aware about Cell Phones - As of 08/05 SPRINT phones didn't work worth a damn in SD - best I could ever get was "Orally Roaming" - - no - "Analog Roaming." Not sure we can find a place that's not crowded in the Black Hills - Deadwood's less crowded than some - you guys tell me where you will be when (on the first weekend) and I'll meet you if humanly possible. Doug
