hi, unless you wrapped a chain up or something and broke the cases, it should be rebuildable?
aftermarket trans aren't too expensive when you consider everything is new,
used ones , like on ebay, $500 and up...and then are they good?
¿
find a good local chopper shop, not the expensive dealer, and just talk to them
they should set you straight, good luck!

Call Bud's MC Shop in Austin 512.472.8658. I am also calling a guy I know south of me for KnuckleFan to see if it's OK for me to give his number out (that will be via email only) and if so I'll send you his number. He will definitley have it. I am amazed the entire tranny is lunched - are no components salvageable?

Re:the bike she is astride looks like an FX from the pic. I have seen the 5 in a 4 gear kits on ebay for as low as $500.

If your goin to the expense of a new tranny, there are aftermarket manufacterers who make a bolt in 6 speed... for a few bucks more you can have two more gears...better and cheaper than a stock one.

it does not have to be year specific. Any 4 spd tranny will bolt to your plate weather it is an early ratchet top or a later rotary top.
Before buying a new tranny, I would have someone who knows harley trannys look at yours. If it is the later rotary top style, a sputhe 5 in a 4 kit may be cheaper than buying a tranny. This is a gear set that adds a fifth gear to your old 4 spd box

Just a thought, maybe now would be a good time to move up to a 5 spd?
