Can someone tell me why Face Book?
What will it do for someone who hopefully has matured and can string a sentence?¿ Just a simple question...

Not my bag. But just another way of networking and getting yourself up there and pretending you have more of a life and more friends than you do.

Can't be bothered with so many non aquaintances who aren't even friends. Blogging is enough.

Getting up a profile is easy and free. So try it and see.

I keep my private life totally separate from my work life. No one knows nothing. Keep ti separate Keep it easy. First bf worked with me. Everyone else's business and millions of comments and advise. Like home to be separate and private. and what I get up to know one knows. None of their business.

Hate work pushing you into socials and being more matey than you are. It is a work place. These people are not necesarily my friends they are colleagues. Lets keep it professional. Keep your nose out.

Had a Senior Social Worker over me. Batty as Hell. Neurotically jealous and paranoid. Used to phone me at home and give me abuse down the phone. Friends could hear her and thought she was one of my Headcase patients - No she is the senior social worker. Work would not take on the problem. Had to push not to have phonecall from her on my home phone outside work hours until I theretened to make it a polcie matter with an injuction.

Bad enough psycho profiling - which any socio/psychopath can get through.

Work keep out. I am in conflict and competition with you. Lets not pretend its otherwise.

Thank you to all who have commented on my question.¿ I ask due to the fact that the firm I work for has pushed our participation in the Facebook to the ninth degree, so I was really interested to see what folks outside the business norm would think.¿ I do find some features interesting but¿come on, who cares when someone goes to sleep, goes for the wine or posts their weekend exploits.¿ I think it¿s another way to keep tabs on your doings, talk about 1984?¿ Ok, so I am old school but I still have some issues with folks knowing my personal business or were-abouts 24/7.

If you just allow just friends that you actually know, FaceBook is fine. You start letting other types¿in & who knows what'll happen. I've been on it for quite awhile, but mind you I'm of the opposite sex also

Mind you. Just got the Facebook nightmare over here. A serial rapist attacker called George pt himself on Facebook and others with a series of aliases.

A lovely young woman who's profile read really nice, warm and caring met up with him and has now been found dead in her arsoned flat.

I really do think that internet dating is a real hunter's paradise for any nutter. Pretty anonymous. Can be whoever you want to be. No one knows you. So you can do and be whatever you want and disappear and its more difficult to find them.

Looked a nice lady who actually said she was looking for a nice decent chap who was stable and normal who did not mind larger cuddlier females.

I could kill for him using her sweetness and naivety.

Better to meet up with someone other people know and can tell you about. Even if its a man's honour not to snitch on another man unless he wants to steal his date. Good to meet up with friends then others can suss him out and give you feedback.

I have often wondered the same thing.¿ My new phone has an icon for FaceBook.¿ I'm clueless about the whole thing.
