To be fair. You must state what behaviour you think is selfish and arrogant. Also just to check you are being fair. If this behaviour was being done by a man would you notice and be concerned as much.

2nd I am independent have been hard working gal that work in a man's profession and made it thur the ranks w/o kissing butt chose to improve my life even more by going back to school becoming a nurse and all (except for moral support of my friends) BY my self at age 57

I think I see what you are saying Phil. At least I have seen that in many women on here too. I have been "independent" since I was 15 and there is nothing arrogant about it. It is just life.
BUT! Big But coming here...your point could have made with a bit more discretion. Ok, a lot more discretion. There are many women on here who are hard working, independent, self sufficient and are most gracious, endearing, lovely, kind, friendly and feminine. I think it is obvious the ones I speak of.

Hey Phil It been a while you must have met the wrong girl...lol There are so many very selfish women but that doesn't mean they are independent. Independence comes from the struggle of doing it alone for so long yet it doesn't mean that we are all arrogant..Good Luck on this one Dear...

I have always had to stand up for myself. No favours given here and I like to provide for myself because that way what i earn is mine (I'm sure many share this basic feeling of pride and self reliance)I also have heard the phrase used aganist women "I've paid for that so I've paid for you and OWN you."
I do know that if I treat a man as an equal and discuss and debate as an equal sometimes they see it as arrogant. Some really do see the woman's role as just listening and agreeing.
But I do think some women are bad mannered and treat men badly and very rudely and without consideration. But consider the man wrong if he protests.
But seen Grandma Mum and all my Aunities (8 of them) be the perfect wife etc etc and led lives of miserly with no love or consideration. Gran was married from 19 - 70 when Grandad died and those last ten eyars were the only chance of freedom and happiness she had even though for teh last 5 years she was housebound ill and waiting to die. Auntie Edna, Ethel, Doris, and Doreen were only happy when their husbands died. and woudl enver consider marrying again. I am a member of a 40+ female member choir most are older and except for a few would never consider marrying again.
